What causes newfags to integrate poorly? - The scientific process behind Eternal Septemberism?

My own theory is that year by year you get more users who have never interacted with forum culture back in its heyday, so its a much bigger shock when we've got people now who were raised and only know social media, nu-4Chan and subreddits instead of things like IRC and ye olde game forums. Its like watching someone who has never driven stick try to figure out what that strange rod in their car is.

I'm just happy I don't have to hotlink images with HTML like I remember doing way back then.

They might appear to integrate poorly because new users are more sane than older users, since KF actually turns you retarded and newer users have had less exposure. Going on KF is like entering the chamber with the elephant's foot, if you're going to venture in there you only want to do it in short periods, isolated from your environment, otherwise your brain will develop holes and you'll become gay.

So that's probably why.

I think it's because no one can be bothered to read. They don't read threads all the way through (Yes, some of them are very long, get over it) and then ask dumb shit that has been addressed twenty times before. Because they get clocks or trash cans, their autism goes into overdrive trying to get a dopamine rush, which makes the problem worse.

As a younger person, it's still kind of hard to comprehend just how different the Internet used to be from how it is now. It's literally all anyone my age has ever known. I can't say I really get forum culture the same way as older users, but I like the site and try not to shit it up by being retarded.

What if you had to wait a couple months after creating an account before you could post?
A lot of hobby-oriented threads do things like limit the ability to post links or list to the classifieds until your account reaches some combination of age + posts, to cut down on spam.

I could see some kind of throttling working, like 3 posts/day and no right to start threads, then after a week or two you can start a couple threads per week, etc.

Seriously?

When outsiders are introduced to a community in small numbers they are forced to modify their behavior to fit in among the people around them.

When large groups of outsiders are brought into a community all at once they tend to clique together and don't need to change because they have their own community.

One or two foreigners usually conform to the local customs, are exotic, and are viewed favorably. Large numbers of foreigners tend to be insular, keep their own disgusting customs, and are viewed negatively.

I'm probably not much older than you. But imagine a Internet that was more than just 3 sites. That's what I remember growing up. It was so alive. You actually had to sit down at a PC if you wanted to get online and play the shitty flash games your dad's work PC could barely handle. It was a different time. A based time.

It's because that's how it's supposed to be and it will continue to be that way through the end of time. The trash weeds itself out. The people who actually give a shit about being here will continue to stay.

unironic total death to anyone who asks questions to things which have been answered multiple times already. just spend a few minutes reading the thread before you ask questions you nigger.

forum culture
Don't get all fomo about it most forums sucked ass for many of the same reasons reddit etc sucks and it's what also makes this site special: jannies. Since time immemorial forum mods were no different than Reddit mods, present company excluded of course, and were power tripping niggerfaggots.

To prove my point that the mode janny was no different now than then with something you can still find: the homestar runner wiki forum. The HSR wiki forum was the defacto forum for HSR since the official site didn't have one. The forum mods would rather the forum to die than allow is users to use the forum for off topic stuff more than on topic. On paper this sounds silly but when account for homestar runner going on a ten year hiatus, and barely came back, it make sense that the users would eventually run out of on topic shit to talk about. Now, users werent shitting up on topic threads, they just weren't posting in them and were mostly posting in the off topic subforum. The off topic posters were given and ultimatum and sent packing. And now there have barely been 100 new threads in the fifteen years since that happened.

There were good forums as well back then as now, kiwi farms being the obvious example, but it's not like the old forums were the halcyon days where you could say nigger and kike without reprecussion or just have a good time. people migrated to reddit for a reason, as crazy as that sounds. in the early days they really did stick to their libertarian guns, hence subreddits like coontown being allowed to exist for so long. but somewhere along the line it went corporate and just got shittier and shittier and became the reddit we know and love today.

This applies to newfags of the Internet in general rather than the Farms specifically, but...

1. Half of them are Indian or some other variety of 3rd World sludge.
2. Their minds are fried and unable to adjust to new standards of conduct.
3. They don't lurk or refrain from posting out of laziness and entitlement.
4. They think any Internet community is a ChatGPT bot there to entertain them purely on their own terms.
5. They're refugees from sites or communities that died/were banned and expect their new home to have all the same rules.

Basically they lack a Theory of Mind and should thus be classified among lower fauna like insects or base mammals.
