Always a classic! I recall often seeing this film on Disney Channel and being annoyed that they cut out the bit with the severed chicken head.
It wouldn't surprise me if children were generally scared by this, I thought it was a very clever idea (but then, I was a teen when I saw this).Holy shit that talking statue from "Legends of the Hidden Temple "...
In the early 80's, there was this one game show I watched where kids were playing video games and having to walk through panels of light on the floor and if they stepped on a wrong panel, they disappear! Found it recently and here it is, pretty cheesy to say the least!
But if there had to be something that scared me shitless as a 6 year old, it was this....
And that's why I loved Secret of NIMH. Nobody gave us this kind of animated suspense in '82....
Don Bluth didn't fuck around man.
The original story certainly was. He kinda deserved it for being a dick to his father the way he started. There was an animated version produced in Italy in the 1970's that found it's way to the US often in Kiddie Matinees and weekend afternoon timeslots.Pinocchio is wild as fuck.
Damn. Thank goodness by the time the movie finally got a US release I was already a freshman!Little Nemo Adventures in Slumberland fucked me up as a kid
This was indeed nightmare fuel the way it begins with Dorothy having to go to that place for shock therapy at the beginning.Edit: Return to Oz also just... christ
