What did you watch on the flight?

I was recently travelling for work internationally, so needed some distraction from being surrounded by cattle (no I'm not important enough to be given business class).

I wasted 6 hours of my life watching Avatar Way of Water and Dune. I'm normally content to watch any sort of science fiction but holy shit. Avatar might have been better if it were half as long, Dune I felt like I spent most of the movie wondering wtf is going on.


On the plus side, I'm on the clock for travelling so I was literally paid to watch these movies, and still feel conned.

Edit- The highlight of the in flight entertainment system was when I listened to some Dire Straits, and found out I've been listening to the censored version of Money for Nothing and never heard the original.

if you are referring to the newer dune, i found it easy to follow and im a retard. though after reading the books it does explain it better, like wtf is a bene gesserit anyhow.
if you are ever on another long flight i recommend the 1963 cleopatra if you havent seen it. it stars the beautiful elizabeth taylor and has a run time of 4 hours. it's pretty good but long, so perfect for a flight.

To me that's more of a book situation, plus load up your phone with whatever ahead of time. Avatar's only going to potentially be halfway watchable in 3D IMAX, on a shitty airplane tablet you won't be able to fully experience its mediocrity.

I usually just listen to podcasts and/or bust out a handheld to pass some time. Occasionally there's some decent reading material on board as well. Unfortunately I've never been able to sleep while travelling

Back of my eyelids/read. Didn't really like dune, liked the old one better. It looks nice and I liked some parts, like the throat singing battle prep scene. It's also pretty goofy a single doctor can cripple an entire empire overnight.

While I was traveling on a Spirit Airlines flight, I uneasily watched and smelled a fat lady sitting in the opposite aisle seat eat some kind of meal from a noisy foam container purchased at the airport. After snorting down that meal, the lady had the gumption to buy a soda as if any more calories were needed. It was a long few hours as I tried to minimize my breathing to avoid smelling the stench. Surprisingly the woman was not black.

I normally read on flights, but coming back from my moms funeral in my home State, the passenger in the row in front of me was watching The Departed on his laptop with headphones on, so I watched that from over his shoulder (I'm tall so I could see over the seat and his shoulder fine) during the flight. Thankfully he had subtitles on, though I've seen that movie enough times that I practically know it by heart.
