I used to work at a Wal-Mart prior to joining the military. Minimum wage hell. I originally was to work in Housewares stocking shelves, but I ended up cashiering, mixing paint, making keys, offloading trucks. I quit when they wanted me to clean a bathroom with shit on the ceiling. Get out now...there are far better, more rewarding jobs out there.
 
I used to work in a warehouse. I know how annoying it can be when things are unorganized.

Retail workers get no respect, but where would we be if we didn't have them?

Good luck with your writing career. I thought I wanted to do that but after taking some classes it didn't appeal to me.
 
I work in the garden department of a hardware store. I get to load heavy shit, drive a forklift to load heavier shit, know things about plants, and do a whole bunch of unending warehouse and inventory work when I'm not helping customers.
 
I'm a full-time student at the Art Institute of Colorado. I'm hoping to get my Bachelor of Arts in Web Design & Interactive Media (and since I just started on my program, I'm totally doing shit completely irrelevant to my future career aspi(e)rations). Next quarter is pretty much more of the same:

  • Fundamentals of Drawing
  • Digital Illustration
  • Intro to Scripting Languages
  • Layout Design
  • College Algebra
 
I'm in my senior year of high school, but I have a part-time job as a data entry processor for Equifax. It's horribly boring, but it pays really well for a high school job and I'm allowed to listen to my iPod while I work. When summer hits I'm going to attempt to pick up a second job at the Apple Retail Store, although I've heard it's quite hard to get hired there.
 
I'm just a second semester student at a community college. Don't have a major yet but Im looking at my options.

Same. But I'm going more towards biology and chemistry.

I'm a mechanic. I fix things and sometimes break things and then have to fix them.

I wanted to be a mechanic for as long as I remember. I'm a handyman of sorts, and I love working on stuff around the house, on the ranch, etc. Took me a while to realize I'm good at other stuff too, and that stuff is a lot more interesting than fixing stuff all day.

I've only been doing it for about 2 years. It's a 4 year apprenticeship. I've always been tinkering on this or that. I work with a great bunch of guys and some bitchy women in the office. I kinda bounced around jobs from my late teens to late 20's. I'll probably finish this and get my ticket and move on to something else. Kinda just wanted to have something in my back pocket to fall back on. The pay is good and I can get parts for really cheap for my own vehicles. I dont think most people realize how much parts they purchase from a shop are marked up.
 
I work in the kitchen at a restaurant washing dishes and bussing tables. I like my job. I already got two raises since starting to work in October and I've been learning to help the cooks in baking things. But yeah, overall I like my job. I enjoy it, it can get a bit chaotic, especially during Sunday brunch, but it helps pay for college and whatnot which is always a good thing.
