What does the farms think of squishmallows?

I have at least five. My first one was a small patch patterned cat. My boyfriend picked me up and asked me if I liked loathes.

I got three, they’re very cute and I love them. I adore the fact that they’re machine washable, like the care tag says.

My GF collects these. Over time and dating me, I bought her more. She also has a few funkos, although thankfully she's not very into those and only has a handful related to very specific things she likes (starwars, letterkenny etc)

I didn't realize how many she had until she moved in. They fill a bunch of space in my spare bedroom/office. Will post pics in the AM if you want.

Dunno if I'd call them a red flag. Just cute round animals. Red flag for me would be a metric fuck ton of funkos, woke shit flags, miatas etc

The licensed character ones can be cute such as Winnie the Pooh or Disney dogs. But alot of them are too bland or gaudy in design for my taste.

They're adorable. I used to work in a store that sells them and I most associate them with being tossed basketball style onto the top shelves while I was restocking. That was fun.

I love them, I own four altogether - three have been gifted to me over the last couple years after I raved over the first one. Three are the big ones, then a small one- I keep my bed up against the wall and have them lined up between me and the wall to lean on at night for extra back support, or to put one between my knees to sleep on my side more comfortably. I definitely think people who collect them to the point they're fighting with kids over them are weird.

Also my dog loves to cuddle with them. I have to wash them more often, but they make me AND the dog happy and that's important.

❤️🤗❤️
My collection grows. I want more!

My roommate keeps buying them for his gf, and it's made me realize that they're literally everywhere. Every store has them, even if they're off brand or vacuum sealed.

I'm curious to see what will happen to all of them once they break up.

Unless they're rare, there doesn't seem to be much resale value to them. Entire collections come up on Marketplace a lot near me, they never seem to sell. On the other hand, I've never seen one in an op shop. I think a lot of people are hoarding them, like they do with Funko Pops. Once the fashion ends, I expect an inundation of the things, tons of, "My entire collection free with pick up!" ads everywhere. Your housemate's GF will probably end up putting all hers in plastic bags and taking them to the nearest op shop... or just binning everything, depending on how bad the breakup is.

At least these, unlike Funko Pops, are cute and make good pillows. Reminds me of Beanie Babies. Huge financial craze, but in the end at least kids got cute toys to play with.

Beanie Babies were generally pretty creatively designed too. I love the Squishmallows that I have, but they're basically all ovals with tags and simple embroidery. That's why the company is able to push out such immense numbers in so many different styles, as far as soft toys go, they're ridiculously easy to make. Little soft toys with tiny details need a lot of work in the pattern making and are very labour intensive. Modern Beanie Babies are very simple in comparison to old ones, they're basically the exact same pattern and design with massive eyes to draw attention away from the generic faces. The custom plush industry has really gutted the market for high quality soft toys. You can get a high quality, handmade soft toy to your exact specifications instead of spending years begging companies for a small run fairy penguin or a dugong, that's where the long term enthusiasts are spending their money on these days. But there is still a huge market for kids and consoomers. After Squishmallows are gone, something else will take their place.

Funkos are well and truly on their way out, and not just the Pops either. When MLP became a sensation, I bought a Funko figure of a popular side character that induced an extremely intense feeding frenzy when it was released. I've been trying to sell the thing for the past three months. Other figurines of this character are selling for good money, but the market for Funko figures is well and truly gone.

I saw this when shopping at my local Barnes and Noble. I couldn’t help myself.

Going Stuffed Animal Autist Mode to correct you and say this is a Squishable. I don't think there are any plague doctor Squishmallows, unfortunately.

I have a few and they're nice (I also have a Squishable fwiw and want more. I'm eyeing up the cat bread loaf and the hot dachshund). Brother Paula also has some - two of the log-shaped ones, I think (he got two for me and two for himself).

Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck. I hate the cheap, thin, and sweaty feeling fabric they are made with. I hate the density of the foam inside. Idk they just feel... perpetually damp to me. It angers me to think about, to be honest. I hate the weird autistic fan club around them, but much less so than the actual product. Do I care about someone having one? Not really, it means nothing at all to me unless they literally talk about how they have to have their squishmallow things as a pseudo emotional support consooomery and autistic comfort mechanism. You know the type. That weirds me out. I dont care at all if someone likes them and has some, good for them for enjoying a thing, really. But for the love of God please don't make me touch one.

I have 2. I forget if either are actual squishmallows or not, but they are very cuddly and soft! Great for snuggling when I feel down, sleepy, or even just cozy.
