Is Phil unredeemable?

Career-wise, he's not irredeemable, but he'd need a reality check. So far, no matter what happens that looks like it might kill his career, he finds a way out of it. Actually, he not only finds a way out, but each "scandal" brings more donations and greater income. Begging has worked, so it's only become more prevalent. There are times---when he's drunk but not too drunk, mainly---that he shows a semblance of a sense of humor and that he could be entertaining as a gamer. If it made him money, I think the quality of his videos could improve from shitty to mediocre. Right now the drama makes him money, so that's what he puts out.

As a person, he's wrapped up in his own delusions and lives mostly for money. Not a fun way to go through life unless you've got a fuckton more money than he does, but he's far from alone in living that way. I don't see that changing.

I have a hard time tracking Phil's metamorphosis from laughable manbabby to genuinely despicable piece of shit, although he probably always was a piece of shit, it's just he didn't always show it at first.

It was probably the Leanna Emergency vlog for me though. I don't buy that they'd broken up and she'd fucked with him. I think they were very much together from the way he was talking in that vlog, and he got dumped for it. He just couldn't process that he'd done something wrong, and got slapped with the consequences, consequences he couldn't weasel his way out of like most of his online drama, so he lied about it and made it into a situation where he was wronged first.

I found Leanna annoying but mostly harmless, but no way did she deserve that treatment. The fact he's still milking her for views months later only adds to the pile of shit Phil created.

EDIT: Kek, forgot the wordfliter.

The man is pushing 36 and looks like he's in his mid-40's. He will never change. He could have that "life changing moment" and he still wouldn't change one iota.

I'm trying to think of a specific moment where I thought he became irredeemable and I should preface that I was never a fan but an ironic fan of his. I enjoyed seeing him rage when playing fighting games. But I think the moment I realized that this guy was a POS was when he first got laid off from his job at the helicopter plant, he made this big sob story vlog where he almost cried, and here comes his fans with donations along with overwhelming emotional support.

And what happened? He complained that he's not getting enough and that he needs at least $10K a month to survive. Then he started saying in his vlogs how he urgently needs to redecorate his condo. Said result of this redocoration including that video game poster shit you still see hanging from his walls... And a new 70 inch TV. Because that was totally necessary to replace his 5o inch set.

He never disclosed how much he got from donations and this "redecorating" nonsense occurred roughly 1-2 months after he was laid off.

It annoys me that this part of his saga hasn't been covered at all. If I could find his vlogs on his own channel I'd share them but he deleted them or it's impossible to find them.

The Leanna anxiety attack rant was the first time I thought that he was irredeemable, mostly because I would hate somebody revealing very personal information for money. The worst, though, was the doxing when he blamed the victims for getting exposed. Then trolls, but never himself or BSV. Using fans as pawns in some weird “holy war” between himself and da damn detractors is literally something only Phil would do.

I have a lesser tolerance for sure then some people have in here. He became irredeemable for me early on after watching a few tihydp I looked into if he was such a terrible person. And I found out that he was. He shits on everyone even his benefactors. If things need some forethought he will shit on the people involved as well. And things just got worse and worse each year.

Which has ended in him doing begathons now every month. Losing his business partners and his gf. With him going as far as scamming teens out of their money with fake tax problems.

Semantic wise he is indeed not irredeemable. But something extraordinary and life altering would need to happen for him to change things. And it would need to be big, as losing machinima and his gf of 5+ years did nothing.

The fact that he doesn't listen to anybody. Not his parents, not his (former) best friends, not his (former) girlfriend, not the patrons or the donators or whoever gives him money. Phil always knows best and loves to show it off, even when he is in a downward spiral and the laughingstock of the community. Any well-meant advice ends in that person getting blocked and denounced, propably insulted during the process, and nothing changes.

The guy is just a fat fucking loser who happens to be an idiot and a liar. That doesn't mean he's irredeemable. Phillip Burnell hasn't murdered anyone. He hasn't raped anyone. He hasn't assaulted a cripple. He hasn't run a Ponzi scheme. What is he guilty of? Being an obnoxious sack of shit who makes horrible videos you don't have to watch, act like a dick to his cunt of a girlfriend, and ask his viewers for donation money. Those offenses can be redeemed. Don't be so overly dramatic. Is he fun to laugh at? Yes. Does he deserve to be assaulted, or murdered, or made homeless? Fuck no. The guy only hurts himself, and that's it.
By "irredeemable," I mean strictly that he's unable to change his ways or outlook on life. Not really commenting on the severity of his wrongdoings, or the net collateral damage. Notice that many posters have cited the hospital incident and the recent doxing hostage situation as their loss-of-faith moments. Pretty much the only two times Phil's carelessness put people in potential or actual danger. (I do think he is both toothless and totally morally bankrupt.)

Anyways, if the question is pruned to be, specifically, "Can Phil ever redeem himself from being, or, learn not to be, a fat fucking loser who happens to be an idiot and a liar?" My answer is still no. I invite you to ask yourself the same question, allowing you to participate in this thread with us.

When he refused to switch to direct capture devices and stuck with his camera for so long and kept giving excuses for why that was the best idea ever.

At that point I realized the man will always make excuses for everything. Even when he finally switched to direct capture, you could smell the smugness, like he was showing off how brilliant it was of him to admit direct capture was a good choice after all. His attitude is built upon himself being above everyone at everything, even when he finally admits being wrong on something he sounds magnanimous about it to himself.

He's a narcissist, plain and simple. He'll never admit it or seek therapy for it, he'll forever keep on insisting he's a humble and nice guy and the only reason anyone would be annoyed with him is jealousy and immaturity.

There is a part in the back of my mind that experiences sheer animal terror when I see Phil. I'm slightly older than him and people consistenly think I'm about a decade younger, meanwhile Phil looks two solid decades older. Couple that with his response to a fan yesterday that children need exercise so their bodies develope properly, he doesn't need any exercise because he's already a fully developed adult, during his cardboard historian word salad Nintendo hate-boner rant; he's a cautionary tale of the self-harm possible from ignorance, idiocy, self-delusion, and unbridled egotism.

Like, this nigga look like he got Methuselah's disease but it's just from his lack of physical activity and food choices.

I remember playing the original Darksiders on ps3 just after release.
I got stuck on something and went to YouTube for solutions.
Let's just say I didn't find them over at dear 'ol Philliam, but I found his complete ineptitude at the game fascinating.
Nothing that kept me watching, but still fascinating.
Flash forward a couple of years and I hear about TIHYDP and look it up, and recognized my old buddy!
I think the moment that tipped me more towards disliking him was the whole debacle with Leanna and KH.
Been enjoying the ride from then on.

the whole ending with Machinima. This fool absolutely believed that Machinima should be demanding to talk to YouTube management until they got an answer that satisfied him. This dude a million percent believed that he mattered at all to Youtube/Google and that somehow Machinima had completely screwed him. Dumb fuck is on Pluto.

My exposure to him by the SoK (sad and embarrasing as that side story is for me to ever go into... Ever.) gave me every reason I ever needed to hate this laxy, cowardly, fat/disgusting, & greedy POS - even though the SoK are even bigger irredeemable PsOS than Phil (for being a bunch of fucking A-Logs!), honestly.

As much as I want to believe redemption is always a possibility, so far Phil continues to prove he ain't capable of it (and has yet to prove he truly is, thanks in part to Metokur's recent tongue-thrashing / dirt-digging in his sorry ass.), at least IMHO.

I don't think he's likely to become a productive member of society, an account of him being a lazy sack of shit, but I do believe that it's possible that he could. Nearly all of his problems are manufactured, so if he could somehow break out of that shit rut of a life that he lives, maybe get an actual job, start eating healthier, make some friends, I'm sure that his outlook on life would improve. I don't think there's even a 10% of any of that happening, but I do think that he could redeem himself in any case, no matter how unlikely.

He makes you feel sheer terror because you know if he was to utilize his ripped physique of his and punch you, you'll need painkillers to live the rest of your days.
Anyway. Him giving away empty fucking boxes was when I noticed how much of a piece of shit he is so look at that if you want to get pissed off.
Afterwards look at the GoutMasta fail at running pc games if you want a laugh.

What DSP moment(s) made you realize Phil is totally irredeemable?

There was a point in my life where I saw Phil just as a big idiot. This was the time when the detraction was still young and there wasn't much information around Phil (not much "Philformation" there).

Years or month later I watched a detractor-video of Phil where he claimed he changed very much in the last months (or years), with a lot of positivity and a new positive attitude . Of course he said it in many vlogs like he had the urge to convince himself. And as it turned out, he was kinda right: He changed. Into an even more worse person (more worse? Worser? Sometimes english is weird for me)!

This was the point when I realized that DSP has no self-awareness at all and will never change. Also since then I'm at the lookout for this "new positivity" whenever he freaks out and rambles in a negative manner like only DSP can.

Hell, I can't even see that much positivity when he tries to be positive. Because you can clearly hear his negative undertone. Or maybe it's just his abnoxious voice or the unnatural way he emphasizes sentences.

When Phil bemoaned about his 1st edition Wolverine character. It had been decades since that incident but he still put his parents on blast over a toy. Huge giveaway to the maturity of Phil to even remember it and instead of being that angry six year old, he could laugh at it for being so silly of him. Instead he clings to that misplaced bitterness.
