What entertainment website fell the hardest this decade?

Here is another site that I have not heard mentioned yet: Newgrounds. I have no idea of there has been a tank in quality or not, but I do know I never see anyone talk about them or link stuff from there anymore (or maybe I'm not 12 anymore, living in the suburbs, listening to Linkin Park, watching DBZ, see copypasta below). When something from Newgrounds is linked, its usually a Youtube video recording. HTML5 and the death of Adobe Flash has probably been the biggest contributor to their downfall.

I'd say the golden age of YouTube was before that. Back when you could easily stream damn near any show without getting kicked.

I was an AICN user even earlier than that, like 2001-ish, possibly even 2000.

I wasn't going to mention AICN because, aside from barely remembering that it's still around, I think it had already declined so much in the previous decade that I don't think I was a regular user much after the mid 2000s. I think it still had a semi-decent anime news roundup that I checked into the late 2000s but I don't even remember the last time I've checked the site out other than just tonight after being reminded that AICN still exists.

I mean, at least Rotten Tomatoes I still visit when I want to see links to off-site reviews.

EDIT: Oh, wait, I remember why I stopped checking out AICN, Harry Knowles wrote a review of some movie, I can't remember which one, where he got weirdly pornographic with his writing and it was just off-putting. If I search for "Harry Knowles infamous review", I get a Reddit link to this Blade II review which I don't think is the review I'm thinking of (it would have been later in the 2000s) but it's definitely in the same TMI vein.

It still had a very large, healthy and active community circa 2009, I'd be interested to know when it really started to falter though, but I stopped being a regular visitor in 2010, so I really have no clue.

As to why I stopped there wasn't really any specific reason, I was just kind of bored with it.

But the TMI moment I remember was when Harry Knowles compared the trailer for Speed Racer to "chocolate covered pussy juices"

MS Paint Adventures. What was once a fun web comic about using reader input and running to the hills with it turned into a comic with immense animations, complex lore, and a cool fandom, and then the MSPA Forums closed, the main comic ended, and the story's various epilogues have been rapidly disappearing up their own ass. I got like five sentences into 'the homestuck epilogues' and I could feel my heart breaking as I read two of the characters moan about a third one - of the god damn heroes - being a fascist and a xenophobe.

Has anyone mentioned The Spoony Experiment yet? Because Jesus Christ.

OK, it wasn't as big as Cracked, YouTube, or even Channel Awesome, but at one time, it was a respectable site with a thriving community, and regular content from Noah.

Now? The site and forums faded away as Noah put less and less work into creating content. The man basically let his entire life crumble around him while he sat like a bump on a log tweeting his ass away.

Newgrounds is actually working on embedding a flash emulator into their site so all their shit won’t die when flash kicks the bucket next year.

Forum culture in general died around 2014 for me. I used to belong to a motorcycle forum where we would plan rides, share trips we'd been on, and answer technical questions. Was a very solid group with people who knew what they were doing - you'd even have some aftermarket manufacturers with accounts who would answer shit as well.

That shit stopped when Facebook Groups became a thing. For whatever reason, the quality of people you would get showing up for a ride off the forum was wholly different from the quality of people who would show up from Facebook. Forum people? Generally mild-mannered and friendly boomers who like talking about tool collections. Facebook users? AIDS. Just AIDS.

On the other foot, when you'd be given advice or information from someone on a forum, you'd be able to see their name, post count, and an avatar to make them unique - you would get to "know" certain users and be able to know who knew what they were talking about and who was slinging dogshit. I don't fucking know who the fuck anybody is on a subreddit.

That's one of the reasons why Kiwi Farms, I think, is as successful as it is: I can recognize users. I know who the Chinese shill is and I know who consensually fucks dogs.
