What game did you finish today?

just finished firewatch
I quite liked the fact that the ending..
was in fact an anticlimax, i'm glad in the end it was just one guy being a bit of a dick. it was actually a relief that this turn into GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY. it was nice that for once a character was just being paranoid due to being alone, and there wasn't a twist of OMG THE PATRIOTS or something. it was nice that henry realized what was going on and just fell back to earth. that everything was sane again

I liked it for that reason too. It really feeds into the

loneliness aspect of two people who only communicate with one another over radio and who are, otherwise, completely isolated.

Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. For a FPS game from 1998 that had a sort of anime influence, it wasn't that bad. Felt like FEAR in terms of gameplay due to the fact that you are more like shredded paper than Rambo. Unlike FEAR, there is no slo-mo but there are giant mechs one could pilot in some levels.

Managed to finish FEAR 2 earlier today. The only thing I could think was the fact that in the end, the ghost of Alma raped the main character. It's apparent considering the ghost being on top of you in flashes while going against the final boss and the fact that before the screen cuts to black, Alma walks to you and places your hand on her pregnant belly. Maybe later I might play the expansion the game has if the GOG release has it.

Actually I just beat Undertale both Neutral and True Pacifist Route. Maybe I'll play Genocide if I'm bored enough. You're next, Axiom Verge.

Oh, man, those fucking blue coins. It's borderline impossible to beat this without a guide because of those damn things...

Yeah tell me about it. I just left the blue coins for the end and only started collecting them after I got all the normal stars. Still a huge pain in the ass.

I finally completed Diablo 3 on PS3... I know, it's not a particularly long game, but I bought it at the same time as Witcher 3 (for PS4) and I've been enjoying the latter.

Beaten Destroy All Humans!

I had fun with this game. The humor is spot on, there was quite a bit of mission variety, (Sneaking a nuclear missile into a military air field for example), combat is pretty satisfying and cathartic, and I dig the whole 50's theme they had going.

The game at times is a little buggy though, as sometimes dialogue wouldn't come up, certain missions for whatever reason required a reset because event flags wouldn't activate, and the draw distance is noticeably short. But these are all relatively minor things.

I played this game back when it first came out, but never beaten it. I'm glad I came back to it though. It's every bit as enjoyable as I remembered it being.

I have beaten FEAR 3 and I can say it was a weak entry to the series. Didn't really have the same feel as the first game and I feel the enemies themselves weren't as good as Replicas. No shouting "oh shit" or "die motherfucker". At least piloting power armor gave a sense of fun but beyond that, the game really could of been better, especially since there wasn't much tense atmosphere and the Creep encounters makes it more annoying than scary.

Not "today" but I've recently 100% GTA San Andreas. Never bothered in those 10 years I've been playing.
Still good after all these years, and I thought my GTA memories have been tainted by the autism of the fanbase (or in case of SA, the anti-fanbase).

I completed Star Trek Voyager Elite Force today

Very great game overall. Although I was a little disappointed it didn't run on my AMD PC and I had to run it off my rig.

Now time to complete it's sequel.

I finished Zelda, A Link Between Worlds today. It has taken my #1 spot for weakest Zelda game that I've beaten (Everything before Wind Waker, plus Minish Cap).

I dislike the art style for being cartoony but not stylized like Wind Waker. Like I get it, it's supposed to be based off the sprites from LttP, but it looks wrong. It's like a halfway point between catoony and realistic Zelda, but without the appeal of neither. Maybe it would have been better as sprites instead, go all in for that retro thing.

While the rental weapons are a good idea in theory, allowing players to explore the world as they wish rather than linear a fashion plus giving an extra incentive not to die, it ultimately weakened the dungeon design. Dungeons are based around 1 item, making their puzzles rather straightforward. They were not designed with using multiple tools in mind, which leads to the items being too contextual. And really, that's me being nice about it. You could be excused for not buying them.

But if you do buy them, since rupees are really easy to collect in this game, you can upgrade them through a sidequest where they become massively OP. Everything becomes massively OP, from your sword at the highest level, to the mails you obtain, to the weapons and the broken great spin attack. The challenge dies quickly before you realize what you've done. This game is too easy on normal.

I ended up comparing it to Minish Cap, the previous weakest game according to me. Minish Cap was a case of the game being interesting but ultimately too short. You just begin and it's nearly over. LbW, on the other hands, felt stretched too thin. Not enough there to really grab me, and what was there was a pseudo-remake of the superior LttP.

But as it stands, 6/10. Really, if LbW came out on a previous generation with stricter hardware limitations, I feel I might be easier on it. But I guess I was just expecting more out of it, being on the 3DS and having been built upon older games.

After taking a hiatus from the game, I came back and beaten King's Field for the PS1. (King's Field 2 in Japan I believe)

It was a very fun experience. Graphically it's pretty dated, but that kind of thing doesn't bother me. What did bother me only a little was that the game was pretty much in constant slowdown whenever I'm not in an empty room fighting an enemy one on one. Which is a pretty rare occurrence in this game. It's something I got used to, but seeing the game move at a really fast pace all of a sudden is quite jarring.

Still, I loved the large and interconnected world the game has. It housed lots of nooks and crannies, plenty of enemy variety, it was fairly challenging, and had a great sense of atmosphere with a good soundtrack to go along with it.
