What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

Man, where do I begin. Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Total War, Frostpunk, and generally any RTS or grand strategy game. Maybe even Civ 5 or 6. I'd just love to see his brain melt when he's presented with a huge map of the world. He hates games that make him feel stupid, that's why his BG3 playthrough is very engaging. I'd like to see him play more complex games. Maybe even Rimworld which isn't even that difficult to understand.

Phil's brain probably wouldn't even recognize Europa Universalis as a game. It would be like a lovecraftian monster that he is unable to really see for what it is. The concept of a game wich the fun is to understand a complex system and then use your knowledge to plan ahead is utterly incomprehensible to Phil.

I would like to see him play Dead Cells.

It’s a Rogue like where you die constantly, and you just have to get gud. All the way right back to the first stage. You think he talks about missed inputs now, he will be raging over and over.

The one and only time he played it.

Any of the Paper Mario/Mario and Luigi games. Not because they are difficult (they are not) or complicated (the skill/level system is one of the simplest in any RPG) but because the cheery, upbeat art and self-deprecating writing would clash horribly with Phil being such a sullen grouch. There could be some real entertainment if he decides to try pretending he's too good to enjoy those games or nitpicking them to death.

It's been seven years since i opened this thread.
And almost none of the games listed here by you guys have happened.

Modern DSP is so boring. He has become so afraid of TIHYDP that he basically keeps replaying the same games over and over again. How many times has he replayed From Software games, Bethesda games and retro SNES games?
And he has made his commentary boring as heck on purpose and basically lets stream chat play for him to make TIHYDPs as boring as possible.

This thread might have outgrown its usefulness. I guess i will never see him play Metroid Prime 2.

Valkyria Chronicle Lenneth. That game doesnt handhold you for shit. Youre on a limited time to do things and combat is very punishing if you dont learn it. Alternatively Covenant of the Plume where i can see him sacrificing his allies leaving him alone by the end and then complain why its a mechanic and no one stopped him

Funny enough DSP seems to have never touched a Valkyria Chronicle game before. Probably too anime for his taste despiote the fact that all the girls are decently clothed in military uniforms

I'd kind of like to see him give Ace Combat a try simply because I can't recall him ever playing this series or anything like it. The closest I can think of control scheme-wise is something like Zone of the Enders and he was shit at those. Ace Combat isn't brutally difficult by any means but the majority of games he plays aren't either and that doesn't stop him looking like a total mong.

Along with expert controls being suggested to him you have to pay attention at times to real time information you're being given, strategize on your approach and pick the right secondary weapons and upgrades. Basically all aspects he's terrible at and handholding would only take his performance so far. He's terrible at racing games or really trying to control any sort of vehicle in games and factoring in him trying to avoid enemy missiles/actually see his targets I think it could be a good time for everyone else but him on AC.
