What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

Honestly? SNES games. His constant refrains about games being unfair are actually true enough with old games. He should pick games that match his skill set ( failure and blame).

Dude, NES games. Seeing this fucker play Battletoads would be something to behold.
DSP did play a little Battletoads, since it's included in the Xbox One Rare Replay collection. Timestamped to skip over the few minutes he played Digger T. Rock, he played for over half an hour, but I do recall him using the rewind feature.
But this leads me on to...

DSP did play a bunch of NES & SNES games back in the day, it's strange to consider but the same guy who struggles with Jak & Daxter has few issues with e.g. Mega Man titles. He did complete Mega Man 1-6 as a marathon, and Mega Man X1-6 except for ragequitting on Sigma in X3 when tanking didn't work, and in the middle of X6 with his infamous "this is not Mega Man!" speech... to be fair X6 is a mess of a Mega Man game so most gamers would agree with bits of his rant.
You're more likely to see true rage on obscenely hard games (Battletoads MIGHT work if he's not allowed to rewind/savestate etc.) but more on 5th/6th generation 3D games. Mario 64, him nearly ragequitting Conker's Bad Fur Day, I expect he whined about the controls in Jet Force Gemini in that same Rare Replay collection but I forget. He regularly bitches about the N64 having awful camera controls, so if the N64 Classic ever happens and we get more than just Mario 64, it could be a real treat for DSP whining.

Kerbal Space Program.

I swear the only thing that would be funnier than watching DSP fail in KSP would be watching him succeed.

"Okay, I'm (*BURP*) - excuse me - basing the the upper stage on some concepts from ULA's Advanced Upper Stage, using the same (*SNORT*) propellant for RCS and the main engine, but I'm worried the ISP of monoprop won't let me complete the circularization burn, right?..."

Now you make me have this desire to see Phil do a collab with Scott Manley on KSP where they have the same mission and they compare and contrast their vehicles by launching them. Phil must only use his pigroach intuition for his builds too.

Shame Phil's a spineless, toxic, coward and this would never happen.

Old Phil? I'd take another Twisted Metal, Vigilante 8 Arcade (that was a buggy mess), any driving game since hes awful at those. Another RTS wouldnt be bad either.
.
New Phil? Frankly, anything I'd suggest would just end up "bore quitted"

I love monster hunter and would love to see him play World. Just the image of him screaming "I was blocking, there was nothing I could do" as the great jargas just obliterated him brings a tear of laughter to my eye.

I'd like to see Phil play Dwarf Fortress. Or at least try to. I understand that Dwarf Fortress is a bit passé nowadays, but it's one of my favorites and his lemon PC could run it with no issues.

I'm just interested to see how he approaches it. I'm pretty sure I would get a few cheap laughs out of an edited detractor video.

Other than that, anything Phil plays has potential for laughs. I'm cool with him playing whatever he wants because there's people who are willing to edit out the bull crap and present the funny bits. I applaud their dedication.

i want to see phil play any game that requires a simple thought to pass through his brain to progress. i love seeing him rage

The Rogue Like suggestion finally gave me an idea of what I really want to see from him. Something nobody can master on first, or even second try cuz of unpredictable and unknown variables. This is normally a sign of a good complex game, something you can only understand after many tries, observation and understanding so it gets more fun the more you absorb the very basic substance. A game in which you need to make long term decisions. Something Phil has always problems with, they need to let him win instantly or it has to be reaction based, or else it's a "bad game" *snort*.

His attempt of understanding Darkest Dungeon was glorious. Or should I better say he don't wanted to understand and gave up even before the prestream started. Tasty pig tears.

Someone suggested Kerbal Space Program here, yes great choice. This would hit right his weak spots.

But even more fitting and against his whole approach as a gamer would be Oxygen Not Included. It has no fast win button, you need to understand an enormous amount of little things, you need to macro and micro constantly, you need to think FAR beforehand what to build in which place (something you can only understand after many tries) and each tiny mistake can lead to a deadly chain reaction. And it's random designed. He would fail so hard, I laugh at it just by imagining it.
