What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

I want to see Phil play DCS A-10C. That flight sim is a nightmare to fully grasp, especially if you don't have HOTAS controllers and TrackIR set up. It'd be hilarious if he got persuaded into spending $300~600 on said accessories (double points if he gets the Thrustmaster Warthog set) and then ragequit at not being able to understand the controls.

Morrowind, I want to see how he fairs against the combat system.

Also Stellaris, I want to see him start a war against a Fallen Empire and lose his shit.
I've mentioned grand strat before but its never going to happen. Most games hes a little out of his depth (and he knows this) but he brute forces things. Can't do that with stellaris (or any other paradox game).

I'll give dave credit, he would do some research into a game, enough to see if he can beat it (along with guides/cheese/walkthrough vids as the last few months have shown)

Dave announced in one of his streams he will play Smash Ultimate. Yes! Great! Finally he will be out of his comfort zone and plays ... Ryu. I'm very certain of that.

I guess we can also expect:
  • Ohmagad they just throw their projectiles
  • Uuuugh they are too fast for me, dirty online play abusers
  • Pressed a button
  • Lag!
  • Ryu won't turn how I want him to, not my fault
  • That's not even fair dood
  • I dunno what's going on, the screen is too small!
  • Great game, but horrible netcode
  • Suck my balls Nintendo
  • Which stage should I choose? I dunno which one is good for me, uuuuuh *looks in chat*
  • Looks even more in chat
  • I can't play another fighter, I don't know their moves
  • I fell from the stage again
  • Scrub
  • Picks at least Ganondorf cuz he's closest to Zangief: Uuuuuugh he's so slow
  • One repetitive silly excuse which will be repeated every 2 minutes until everyone is sick of it
To be fair, most of this is DSP standard procedure. Can't have a true and honest gamer if he doesn't stay himself, on the same bad level.

DSPig needs to play XCOM 2, genuinely great and difficult game that balances out actual bullshit and real challenge to create some fantastic moments, but knowing DSP he'd get stuck in the first mission since the game starts out relentless.

He already played Xcom: EU and he shat all over the game, savescumming even more than the average noob in Xcom. Still, it was great because even after 2 months playing he couldn't grasp basic concepts of the game such as that enemies are set per mission and how overwatch works. Still, if he played Xcom 2 with War of the Chosen it would be a sweet shitfest.

Personally, i wish for him to play either Darkest Dungeon or Mordheim: City of the Damned. Both games with heavy RNG where Phil will get utterly fucked since you need to LEARN to overcome impossible odds.

Edit: i remember he played Persona 3 to 5 and he raged a lot with those games. If he ever decides to touch an Atlus game, please be SMT Nocturne. He will rage quit halfway through the game

Oh he played that. In fact he's infamous for not grasping how it works.
He played it once, couldn't understand it. Audience voted the game to be played again, the whole stream he went on a rampage how people are stupid for voting a game he can't understand and he had absolutely 0% interest in learning any mechanics. For example the basic concept of using torches. And he wasn't even subtle about it, he jumped right into offensive mode and bitched and whined like a lunatic. If I'm not mistaken it was a patreon vote, money well spent.

The famous quote "How do I start a mission" comes from this "replay".

Just watched and holy fuck. I know the game is non descript sometimes and you have to find out stuff by yourself (like with every game), but he genuenily doesn't even try. Personally, as a usual on DSP stuff, i wouldn't give him shit if he played on Radiant as long as he played the game and sucked it up to his failures (mainly because you can't save scum). But god, he takes it to a whole new level. Reminds me when he played Nioh and for the whole fucking game he played mid stance spear without using techniques (which is the sole purpose of using a spear: strong tenchniques).

That out of the way, i hope he goes for Xcom 2, specially since it's harder and less linient than EU with the countdown. That or try SMT Nocturne, but the chances that Phil tries another Atlus game are incredibly low.

There is little that I both look forward to and dread more than the thought that Phil may one day decide to play Hollow Knight, which only seems more and more likely now that all of its free content updates have been released, knowing that there's so much he can just completely fail to understand. I also await whenever he decides to go back to do Metroid Prime 2 and any other Kingdom Hearts games, especially Birth By Sleep. I've also been holding out hope that he might go back and play Salt & Sanctuary again, Souls-type games are always good for a laugh. Same for Night in the Woods but then he did end up finishing it, it turned out surprisingly tame by Phil standards too, probably because in even the handful of actually difficult gameplay sections you still don't get barred from progress for being bad.

A guaranteed gold mine with Phil is any game which he claims to have played in the past and been a fan of, especially old school games. I know he's said at some point recently that Super Mario RPG had been one such game, I'd love to see him try to flail around at that. An Earthbound playthrough would be great too but I saw that he's already played that before and apparently it didn't get a lot of attention so he's probably not going to be willing to try it again. Maybe he could get the Mother 3 fan translation.

I've seen a few interesting suggestions in this thread like LISA and Megaman Battle Network, sadly I don't think those older or more out there games are too likely, though if I were to hold out hope for something obscure myself it would probably be Gotcha Force. I'd note that I believe during Phil's Super Mario Sunshine playthrough he mentioned that the door's open now for any Gamecube games he didn't play during his oft-mentioned fighting tournament days, and one of the things he specifically mentioned was, of all things, Star Fox Adventures - now that would be hilarious.

Since he's played Persona and rage quitted, I'd like to see him play Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga.

The Messenger (2018 ). Not just because this game is hard at times, but it also makes fun of a player with phrases like "you pressed, right?" or "if somebody is watching you, you can pretend that it was input lag".

I've been wanting Phil to finish the KH series for years but he refuses to for some reason even though he owns the games and his KH1 and 2 playthroughs were big hits.

Not to mention that the plot of KH3 will make zero sense if he doesn't play at least BBS and DDD.

Hollow Knight just came out for consoles. I want to see Phil ragequit a game that forces you to learn.
