What game or games do you regret playing the most?

I never ditched the hookshot because I knew it was essential. The part where I said "fuck it" is when they make you switch characters more often. It was definitely after leaving the observatory to access a new area. I can't remember the name of the place because it's just another section of a big complex.

Just give me a mod that increases inventory space. Or, at the very least, make weapons separate from the inventory. I almost feel like Capcom didn't want me to play this game.

There should be boxes and the ability to drop items. Sometimes I just wanna put a damn herb on the ground but that doesn't mean I wanna put everything I'm not currently using on the ground

Final Fantasy 7 - gay slop, horrible midi screeching 'music', ugly graphics, pathetic anime characters, dumb dialogues, shit gameplay. i hated all three hours i forced myself to play it, to see what the hype is all about and i still don't understand what is so good about it. JRPGs in general suck, the only one i kinda liked was Phantasy Star IV
Mercenaries 2 - The first game was so much fun, this sequel is so much crap
Bundesliga Manager 97 - the most unfinished game in the history of gaming. It was so unfinished that the CD didn't even have a print on it and the game had so many bugs it wasn't playable at all. Even when it was 'bugfixed' it was nothing more than Bundesliga Manager Hattrick in SVGA.
Jagged Alliance: Rage! - 😭
 
Darkest Dungeon -- This game was nothing but an overhyped, rage-inducing, time-wasting shitfest entirely relying on RNG as a substitute for an actual combat system and defended by the hordes of retards who consider roguelike to be the pinnacle of game design. Nobody from the team even remotely considers that the sequel is such a huge failure because nobody actually remembers having a good time with the first one, and that suffering should a part of the game they want you to pay money for. Truly a game only for absolute masochists.
 
World of Warcraft.

I remember buying Warcraft 3 and seeing the pamphlets about WoW years before it dropped. It finally came out, I got to level 20 and quit when I realized you can't just solo the whole game. Multiplayer games where you have to rely on others are fucking gay. 2005 was the beginning of the end for video games. Don't be fooled- people playing anything modern are trannies.

Owlboy is easily the most unfortunate piece of shit I've ever finished. You think it's just this quaint indie game with ok gameplay and good art for the first 90% of the game. Then the final level starts.

1. Takes away your main mechanic the game has been centered around for the entire final level
2. Starts dumping autistic nonsense lore about the ancient history of the world in a game that's been incredibly character focused and had 0 lore until now
3. Kills the main character in a way that feels like fart huffing misery porn instead of a well done tragic ending

What was already a 6-7/10 experience plummeted to "fuck this stupid game when is this over" instantly. I always try to warn people about Owlboy because the pixel art is immaculate and makes you think you're in for something special

I feel physically ill whenever I think about how much time I've wasted playing Paradox GSG's I don't even like. I've never even finished a full game in most of them, once the early game is over and the veneer of historical plausibility has worn off some sort of disgust reflex triggers and I alt f4 and uninstall. Unfortunately nothing else quite scratches the itch and a few months later I find myself putting together mod lists chasing the dragon of the ideal historical GSG experience, just to repeat the process again.

Maybe Project Caesar will be good...

Vampire survivors. Its cheap, easy as fuck to play, and it basically drip feeds dopamine because all the flashing lights, sparkles, noises, ect. Seriously if you've ever heard how gatcha games are designed to hook you with all kinda of sounds and lights overwhelming you to buy more, its all that, except no gatcha. THIS SOUNDS NICE initially but I think this really fucked up my dopamine there for a bit, I recognized it really quickly, and haven't touched it since.

I generally skew towards games which require more skill / have delayed gratification dopamine, and the change was jarring, and the effects on my dopamine screamed "this isn't healthy". Like its not meth, or coke, or booze, or sex, or raw chemical wise, but being able to be half focused and getting dopamine dripping like that felt kinda sick. Hard to explain but it gave dopamine burnout type effects just from playing for a few day binge, to the point I didn't enjoy other shit. I didn't even play it a TON, but its effects gave me the creeps

Fuck that shit. Not healthy, ill stick to games where getting dopamine is more of a hunt.

It also doesn't have anything all that interesting or thought provoking or mechanically fascinating more than a million other things out there. Its not POORLY made persay, but its definitely made for the tiktokyoutubeshorts generation.

I'm not sure if that game is actually worse than WCW Backstage Assault or WWE 2K20, especially since the latter is awful because of how broken and buggy it was.
 
I stuck with Halo Infinite way longer than I should because the multiplayer was decently fun but eventually I just got tired of all the stupid battle pass and event pass things that made the game feel like a chore to play. It didn't help at all that the only mode I enjoyed playing was BTB and by the time I stopped playing, there were only 4-5 maps in rotation and the stupid banished or whatever map with the gorge in the middle was so fucking bad I would just leave most times that map was picked. The final nail in the coffin was all the stupid DEI/LGBTBBQ 'content' they would add in place of more community forge maps or anything of the sort, nah, you can get ugly black history month and pride armor shaders that nobody outside of redditors and troons would be caught dead using. I will never play another 343 Halo after Infinite and I hadn't since 4, which I also did not like.

I also regret playing Risk of Rain 2 somewhat. Not because it's a bad game but because I love it to pieces and the fact that it's so damn addicting. It was also something of a gateway drug to me because I hadn't really liked Rougelikes as a genre until I played ROR2 and now I've played a few others that I find just as addicting like Crab Champions. Part of me wishes I never dug into the genre deeper than thinking rougelikes were just pixelshit but the damage has been done.

Definetly Warframe. I was an early adopter of the game around 2014-2015 and at the time it was genuinely one of the best games I had played. Even now looking back in hindsight, I don't think I've played a game that nailed the kind of movement and gunplay Warframe provided. I had a group of aquaintences I met in the game, we had a clan and everything and we'd spend hours doing relics for Prime stuff and shooting the shit, real good times. But then everyone began to drift away and less time was spent playing which—compounded with the constant keep-up and issues I have with DE as a company—I decided to throw in the towel and quit too. I've never really touched looter-shooter games like Warframe since and I've not had any interest in returning to Warframe either, especially now with how rancid and visually-unappealing the designs are getting.
 
Mortal Online, i used to have a thing for MMO sandboxes, and honestly i still love open world survival/sandbox games, but preferably single-player ones, but back then i was all into Darkfall and Mortal online, both of which ended being very disappointing to me, wasted extra money for that fancy metal casing, anyway i've never wasted my money on such games again.

Another one would be Diablo 3, the always online requirement was the worst thing about that game, and i didn't have stellar internet back then, and the story was ass, the gameplay was pretty good but i'm more careful whenever i buy a game like it to check whether it has that always-online requirement, because that shit is the worst/most customer unfriendly idea every conceived for games that can be played Single-player.
 
Genshin. I played it a lot during COVID since there was nothing new. It's not bad, but Gacha is a frustrating experience and I should have quit months earlier as it got massive content draught and felt more like work.

Rage.
No idea what anyone was thinking when they made Rage. Its clearly well polished, but everything just kind of happens. The gameplay is alright, the story is just bad. It ends with you pushing a button. There is vehicle combat kind of just happens since the open world map is just one long hallway. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be fallout or if it wanted to be a typical corridor shooters of the day. The art direction was strong, until they force you to fight generic sci-fi guys for the last quarter of the game.

Castle Story.
Bought it early access expecting it to be along the lines of what was shown off in the kickstarter trailer. This was even before steam reviews mind you, and barely anyone was discussing the game.
It literally didn't work, as in not even the units were following commands for me to actually complete a barebones tutorial mission.
 
Saarfield. Looking back now it being $5 off a week after launch should have been a red flag. A good chunk of the dozen or so hours I put in that game were probably loading screens too.

Also War Thunder. 10 years, 1500 hours and the grind never stops.
 
A ton of games I played when I was a kid could fall into this category but I'm only going to mention the one I remember sinking waaay too much time into, which isYugioh: Forbidden Memories - I have no idea why or even how there's so many people who like this game, it's fucking dogshit. I replayed a lot of games from my childhood after I finished university and while a lot of them held up, quite a few of them didn't. Forbidden Memories though? Never have my rose-tinted glasses been shattered so quickly and so thoroughly than after I decided to replay that piece of shit. The RNG is bullshit, the card drop/loot system is bullshit, the grinding required is unholy and the infamous "final 6" is just an exercise in masochism. A lot of the early Yugioh games weren't amazing or even good but Forbidden Memories just takes the cake in how dogshit it is.
