I usually try to 100% Mega Man games for the sake of having all my items. This includes the Battle Network games, where collecting every chip (attack or utility skill) is required to enter the actual postgame where the extra bosses and areas are. I'm pretty sure Battle Network 4 is the only one to not follow this because of it's really fucked-up tournament "story" that has the brackets randomly seeded at the start of a save. Since your NG+ progression gates you out of the stronger versions of your chips, the first playthrough is ironically the hardest. You can also get duplicate bracket layouts on a NG+, so it's possible to not fight every possible boss without possibly 4 or more runs. The gameplay itself isn't bad, but the way the story and progression is structured is.
The only game I distinctly remember 100%ing was the first Dynasty Warriors:Gundam title. I finished all the scenarios and maxed out every character just because I enjoy the mindless entertainment of cutting through hordes of enemies with simple combat.
I make jokes about how mediocre the Dynasty Warrior series is overall, but they've apparently figured out their audience. I remember seeing Nintendoids lose their fucking minds when Hyrule Warriors came out. It's literally just Zelda-flavored Dynasty Warriors, but that's all some people wanted.
To get the chips, you either purchase them in shops, get them to drop from their respective enemies, or find them from mystery data (chests). To finish the collection, you use a Chip Trader, which is basically a slot machine that eats excess chips you have in exchange for another. These machines are actually weighted towards giving players chips they either don't have or have few of, but it's still a pain in the ass to grind chips to throw in the trader.
