What happens if someone gets triggered by trigger warnings?

I had the idea to post this, then I saw someone already posted it in the has this question already been asked thing. That person was me. Fuck, I almost plagiarized myself.

My honest reaction to your question

They asked themselves the question years ago, especially since the word "trigger" is now considered a trigger in itself, that's why nowadays you see "Content warning" or "CW" used instead.

If you are triggered by the idea of being triggered, you probably need to go see a doctor, because that is not a normal physiological reaction.

I think that's possible because trigger warnings contain the words that describe the triggers.

If you are triggered by the idea of being triggered, you probably need to go see a doctor, because that is not a normal physiological reaction.

Very few of these "triggers" are legit unless you are a low functioning autist. Triggers for rape, incest and bodily harm are understandable. People with real trauma may not be able to consume that content without ill effects. But if you are triggered by moths or something then fuck off.

And yes, moths were a real trigger someone listed on their tumblr. I remember reading about it. It may have been posted here on the tumblr thread a long time ago.

It's legit what they do. Trigger warnings can cause anticipatory anxiety (ie trigger you) but they do nothing to alleviate the possible trauma response when actually facing the pre-warned trigger.

They can also make a person's "victim identity" stronger. People start thinking that they *should* forever get triggered by something instead of getting desensitized to it with enough exposure.

In other words, they are useless at best and harmful at worst

I often wonder what it's like for someone with a one track mind going in a circle. It's annoying as hell to a passenger on this ride, but do get fullfiment out of it?
