Veggie beef roast

Watch me even attempt a gingerbread house and have a bite taken out of like, four of the stabilizing walls smh. Maybe in 5 years when the kids are older.

My husband made a smoked brisket like 3 days ago and we are still feasting on it. Regular brisket, brisket nachos, brisket poutine, and now just brisket sandwiches. Hope everyone is doing well, Christmas is such a busy time of the year but if I'm going to post anywhere, it's here and the Wordle thread lmao.

Turkey pot pie from Thanksgiving turkey. Turkey, vegetables, and spices in turkey gravy for the innards. Freshly rolled puff pastry. I used parchment paper around the sides so it wouldn't stick. I should have used foil, or a combination of foil and parchment. The sides didn't firm and puff like they should. The top is an "Aureus" crust. Coin cutouts with 2", 3", and 4" cookie cutters. I didn't put faces on these ones, maybe next time. It fell a little in the middle because I didn't have enough pastry going around.

It firmed up some at 425F for 15-20min.

Here's a country style egg casserole I made with farm fresh eggs (I had to wash the chicken shit off the shells), summer sausage, farmer's cheese, and sauteed onions, with a side of french fries that I made a few days ago. Slight watery excess I had to strain due to adding the cream I made the white russian with.

I made latkes for the first time today, decided to steal from the Jews for once. Shredded and dried potatoes and half onion, crumbled ritz crackers, farm fresh eggs, all fried in olive oil. Salted and peppered afterward when I realized it was bland because I forgot the salt. Sour cream is good but apple sauce is best. 7/10.

Will post more in the future.

People here with all this fancy shit. Thawed ground beef on the frying pan plus salt and onion powder plus buns plus cheese plus ketchup.
At that point get one of those premade spice satchets for sloppy joes, chop up some bell peppers + onions, and ketchup then butter up some hawaiian rolls to warm in the oven for a bit ezpz.

Also that's what I made earlier. while prepping some stuff for the party next weekish.
The mcdonalds thing was a trap to see who'd ghost. Since it's only like two families with two other people actually cooking this time I can just chill and cook a fuckton instead of a metric fuckton like in thanksgiving.

The other two dozen family members get mcdickeys for their fuckups last month. If even that. Still pissed about ghosting cuz making a cake 2 hard apparently.

I elevated the culture in my apartment today by roasting a Cornish game hen (pain in the ass, rather have tendies) and eating it with honey-drizzled Italian bread and a "salad" of boiled broccoli, grilled zucchini, hardboiled egg, bacon, and Parmesan cheese mixed up together.

The day before I made another flailing attempt to cook fried chicken by battering it this time. It fucked up my frying basket because it's batter, its going to mingle with the metal and so half the skin ripped off. I also cooked it at a much lower temp. I finally got more or less okay chicken and think that the next attempt will be more successful.

I think I've shared these recipes before, but I've fallen in love with Hawaiian fried rice and Chinese baked tilapia. I stir fry rice with soy sauce/sesame seed oil/oyster sauce and various veggies (like frozen vegetables sack veggies, sometimes broccoli or baby corns on top of that), eggs, and then the main meat is either stir-fried Spam (as they eat in Hawaii) or to bake the thing with honey-glazed tilapia in an oven.

I did home made kefir for the first time. Was weird letting milk sit out on the counter for a day....then drinking it. I hate milk by itself, never would drink a glass even asa kid. But damn, home made full fat plain kefir is so delicious it was shocking. And I didnt die of food poisoning, so it seems to have worked fine.

I made my triple dark chocolate cayenne cookies again. I seem to have not put enough flour in as it didn't spread properly, but they taste pretty good. I'm gifting some to Mormons so instead of using instant coffee in the recipe i used black walnut bitters and it worked out really really well.

I used actual matzo mix this time and fried them in bacon grease and olive oil. Almost perfect latkes, but I should've used more potatoes, I should've done a better job at skinning them, and I SHOULDN'T have put in extra salt. I didn't expect matzo meal to be so salty on its own. Oy vey, my blood pressure!

The applesauce is great for covering up the mistakes and I think that's the purpose, because not even Jews know how to make these right. You'll know I succeeded when I don't need applesauce.

Also don't put Chorizo on them to make Latinxes... No, just don't.

Plenty of circus going around this time of year, so I had to make some bread:

Two rises. Currants, Cranberries, cardamom, and nutmeg.

French loaf rolled and scored.jpg French loaf risen.jpg French loaf baked.jpg

French loaf slices.jpg

Another twofer. Currants, cranberries, thyme, cayenne powder, and feta cheese.

Edit: Uploaded the same photo twice. A picture of the slices. Couldn't tell 'em apart.

Four out of five cheesecakes (oreo, strawberry, caramel, nutella).

Need to make a fifth but I have no idea what since this is the extent of my knowledge about cheesecake flavors.

I'll figure it out tmorrow that was annoying as hell, but at least everyone let me borrow their cake tins so I made them as a batch instead of one each.
Making a fuckton since my idea is to smoosh each one together to make five random assortments of cheesecake, then keeping one for myself.

A suggestion for the 5th flavor, pumpkin. I’ve done one in the past and it tasted good.

I'm gonna assume it's like a mix of pumpkin pie stuff and cheesecake? Don't have any mixes for it but if I can't think of another reason to go to the store I'm not going to.
Might just make a regular cheesecake, since I just noticed I didn't make one.

But I'm gonna make a pumpkin one in the future, I have a fuckton of ideas for this shit involving that, lemon, or maple syrup.

I'm just going to make one, plain, but with bourbon-smoked Madagascar vanilla and bourbon-smoked sugar.
