What Have You Cooked Recently?

Hm... I might try to make a normal or spicy version of a wheat cake (similar to a journey/johnny cake) for breakfast tomorrow. Maybe with some eggs, or the scrapple instead.

Journey cakes are great, it's just flour, salt, and water that you then bake or skillet cook it with a bit of butter.

I made brownies with whole wheat flour, because that's all I had on hand. I used Hershey's special dark cocoa, and threw in a handful of mini chocolate chips because fuck it, and to offset any potential health food flavor from the whole wheat.
They were the best brownies ever. 10/10 will use whole wheat again. Didn't really notice it, or, if any thing, added a sort of nuttiness.

Spaghetti with sausage in red sauce. Made the sauce from scratch but fuck the headache that is making fresh pasta. Fresh sausage on the other hand is something I'm tempted to try.
Do you have a pasta roller? It's really fun if you have one and practise a bit.

Nah, I don't have one and to be honest I have a lot of cooking gear and I'm on limited space as it is. Maybe in the future I'll give it a try but every video I've looked up on it makes it look like a giant pain in the ass.

Alfredoish sauce
Container of shredded parm
Stick of butter
Most of a container of sour cream
Big glob of minced garlic from the jar
Some pepper, forgot to get parsley
Some spiral noodles
Tossed in fresh baby spinach
good stuff

You should try having noodles with egg, it's divine. Beef is a good addition too.
I think the egg and noodle thing is called carbonara, idk.

Anyways made myself some box cake mix based Black forest cake with homemade whipped cream and a giant ass can of cherries meant for pie filling.

Or my go to favorite that I should really make in the future again: Chopped up chicken breast (lil salt and pepper), dipped in egg, flour, egg again and then a combination of Dixie Fry (kinda small but super fucking worth it) and Panko. Fry that shit, serve it with rice and eggrolls and you've got a class A chinese food that won't kill your stomach with msg

Black bean burgers. My stove's element isn't working at the moment so I cooked them on my electric camping grill.
a lot of refried beans. getting pretty good at it
I've a load of dried black and pinto beans, I'd love some recipes.
Tonight it's liver, bacon and onions for us, with a side of colcannon.

I LOVE fried liver. I've never tried it with bacon. Bacon makes everything better.
Beef roll ups stuffed with spinach, mushroom and garlic and herb feta. That was my first time tackling anything slightly complex and it went great, aside from the meat being too wet to sear. Next time I'll take the beef out earlier and pat it dry more thoroughly.
Great job!
It's usually recommended to get meats to room temp. The absorption and texture gets better; it decreases cooking time a bit and helps the heat to be distributed evenly.

Basically this recipe: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/kiwifarms-open-recipe-book.16712/post-1222183
I cook the bacon first though because I am not a petrol huffing abbo.

Word of advice: Journey cake with wheat is very dumpling like, so you might want to use a different flour or just plain normal bake it. Learned that this breakfast. I also fucked up cooking scrapple in terms of it coming out in one piece (it tastes just fine but not plate worthy), but that was mainly due to me worrying about fucking up the journey cake.

Cheese-less alfredo
Get some dry udon noodles cooked and shock 'em
take one or two eggs whisked till smooth and homogeneous
take a pan, and heat it at medium low, more low than medium, and grease it with something like canola or veggie oil.
add the eggs and constantly stir them till you see clumps start forming.
add the noodles with some scallions, raise the heat to medium or a bit higher, and keep stirring
stir till the eggs aren't liquid
plate up with salt & pepper to taste

add half an onion and a few cloves of garlic with the beans when you boil them, any tomatoes you have that are over-ripe are a fine addition, too. Add a little cumin and a little oregano, a bay leaf if you have it. Take the bay leaf out at the end, and drain out the liquid so that it is about half as high as the top of the bean mixture.. blend everything, add oil/fat and cook it in a pan. That's my basic recipe. Adding anything spicy like a jalepeno or an anaheim is delicious, too. If you fuck up and its too soupy you can add cheese to thicken it. If its too thick you can add milk or water (but you'll need to add salt to compensate).
