What Have You Cooked Recently?

Tuna salad (hot German mustard, plain yogurt, capers, salt, pepper, Tabasco, celery) wrapped in big romaine leaves. Not an entree, but so fucking good...especially since I ate it alongside a stroke-inducing potatoes gratin.

The only things I cook now are instant ramen and frozen pizza. If I'm more adventurous I make box mac and cheese.
I have fruit in my house I just forget it exists.

So I made that chuck roast, then I made a similar pork loin. So I've got bunch of onion/meat/seasonings liquid, so I'm going to try using that for a strogenoff type dish tonight. Gotta get sour cream on the way home from work.
edit 1 -
I cut up the remainder of the chuck and a chunk of the pork, then cut that into tiny bits and tossed that in the sludge with a can of mushrooms, that's on the burner on medium low.
I intend to let that glob together for a while, then I'm going to boil noodles, turn off the sludge burner but leave it on the element, then stir in sour cream and noodles.
stay tuned for further updates on this breaking story

I ended up using two cans of mushrooms.
it was very good

Black beans and fried eggs. I only did it because I had opened the can yesterday and needed to use it up. I found it not all that good but still decent, would consider it an alternative to eggs and sausage.

Pan fried chicken thighs in an onion duxcelle/wine sauce. served with a honey mustard kimchi salad and some homemade sourdough foccacia.

Pretty sure I gave myself a terminal case of gout given how much butter and olive oil I used, but it was soooooo worth it

grilled cheese sammich with ham
outermost - sourdough bread
then
sriririsiicicha mustard
slightly prenuked 1 1/8 slices of white cheddar slice tillamook (the other 3/4 got eaten)
a bunch of diced-ish roast ham from recent family thing
slightly prenuked 1 1/8 slices of white cheddar slice tillamook (the other 3/4 got eaten)
and srach mustard and back out
a bit of salt and fresh ground pepper on each side
about a quarter of butter on each side, very low heat to let it soak in, flip it every 5 mins for a bit, then med heat for 3 on each side to golden brown
totes dank

early drafts included spinach or sauerkraut but it turned out I didn't have any kraut and the spinach melted. I'll replace them probably tomorrow.

Somebody gave me a sack of oysters, which I have never cooked before in my life since I always held out a hatred of oysters because every motherfucker always wanted to eat them raw and I think that's stupid. But with the instanet, all things are possible and fuck it, now I have oysters and I'm bored sitting around in wu flu hell so at least if I burn my house down in a frying incident the neighbors would have something to talk about.

I chargrilled 20 of them, and the rest of them I deep fried. I think they came out pretty good, all things considered.

I tried oysters with a pint of Guinness once. I really didn't get the point, it was like slamming a shot of cold salty snot and then immediately washing it down. So I got a little brave and though I'd try chewing.... huge mistake. Gag reflex instantly triggered.
Still, dip 'em in some seasoned flour and then tempura batter an deep fry them. Serve with some garlic aioli and ... yum!

I just made my famous black-bean chicken chili. I didn't hear any complaints. The kids love it because they fart all week.

Can you share your recipe with us?

Anyway, here's my first attempt at pan-frying a steak with onions and oven-fries to go with it:

And here's the cross section:
Sadly, I think I overdid the steak. Still it tasted pretty good for a first try. Cleaning up the oil is gonna be a pain in the ass, tho.
