What have you recently eaten?

aldi generic Franks Hot Sauce
some spanish brand mix of minced garlic and some coriander

quite nice, almost garlic buffalo wings-ish
also solidifies that I don't have that "tastes like soap" thing just "you use to goddamn much"

I had Panda Express a few days ago and, at a friend’s suggestion, decided to swap out my double orange chicken plate for one consisting of one serving of orange chicken and one serving of their black pepper angus steak. I actually enjoyed it but I really couldn’t stomach the mushrooms due to them being slimy. I’m actually considering trying to make it at home (without the mushrooms and green beans) but finding a black pepper sauce is something that’ll have to require a trip to an Asian food market.

Oh, and I made my usual brisket yesterday. I got a 3-pound slab with a decent amount of fat cap and I marinated it in a spicy bourbon marinade (IIRC it was a bottled one from Sweet Baby Ray’s) for 48 hours. After that it was slow roasted on the barbecue until it was 195°F and left to rest for 10 minutes before chowing down.

Made hayashi rice. Simmered some onions, sweet peppers, and potatoes for awhile then browned some thin cut bottom round. Bottom round is super tough but since the dish is basically a rich stew, it had plenty of time to soften up in the gravy. Tasted damn good.

buddy had me get costco gas so in anticipation of the line I went through checkers drive through
double checker burger
two chili dogs
large fry
coke
good stuff

My mom insisted on taking me out to eat after I texted her to say I got the promotion I was hoping for. Went to a local Chinese place that's the best in town without being overly expensive, had some mapo tofu with shredded dried pork and some puer tea. Shit was nice
Congratulations on the promotion. I hope you enjoy it and do well.

Chicken Biscuit breakfast with an Orange Pineapple Lemonade from Wendy's. Literally the only good thing you could get from that place, most of their stuff is shit, but their biscuits and lemonades are great for some reason.

Turkey sandwich with spinach, mild cheddar, and a peach. 💪😁

Still eating, but one thing I like to do is a lazy "coq au vin". Not one of Fatso Jack's "recipes" as it tastes quite nice and leaves you a nice sauce to eat with pasta or the dish of your choosing later. It's quite simple, all you need are some chicken thighs, deboned or not, a saucepan, butter, wine, and your seasonings of choice. First, add some wine to the saucepan, the butter, and the seasonings (I used garlic, mint, basil, salt, paprika and black pepper), let it heat slowly until the butter has fully melted, and then add the meat when it's hot enough. Leave it on for some minutes, then flip and let it cook some more. It's usually better to let the chicken marinate for some hours before cooking, but I was really hungry this time so they went straight from the bag to the pan lol!

It's neat, the sauce itself is the best part. Don't overcook the chicken and it's nice, and don't overdo the wine lest you end with an alcohol heavy soup instead of a sauce. Good for when you want a nicer meal, quick enough!
