What if Phil had gone to Harvard, Yale etc.

Ivy League schools are just a status thing anyways. Sure they have better programs (Presumably from their funding) but there is literally nothing you can't do in terms of education at any other state college in any state in the US. I have no idea why Phil's guidance counselor or whoever put it in his head he could go to Harvard or Yale, maybe that is some New England thing since most Ivy League schools are centered in that region, but it's fucking retarded of him to latch onto that as a career goal.

The sad thing is this is one time Phil was actually right about how elite these institutions are, but there is no way he could have gotten accepted unless Dave could pull a few strings, and I'm pretty sure Dave pulled strings to get him into Fairfield.

Since he literally went to Basketball-American High, he undoubtedly had an overinflated sense of his academic value and self-worth compared to all his peers.

Harvard's acceptance rate for the class of 2000 was 10.9% and Yale's acceptance rate was 18.3%. The actual intelligent kids I went to high school with who had their sights set on going to an Ivy League school and didn't have some legacy or financial in knew this and applied everywhere.
Phil literally only applied to Harvard and Yale, and some school he can't even be fucked to remember, because he thought he was a shoo-in due to having good grades and his generic volunteering, oh and he was in a play once dood.
I wonder what his application essay even said, or if he even wrote one. Probably just: "I wuz valedictorian dood! I had better grades than the Asian girl. Plus if you don't take me then all that time I spent keeping old people company at the Jewish Center was just a waste!!!"

The top of the line academics Ivy Leagues are celebrated for are off writing books or touring the country giving lectures. And even if they did teach they are usually shit at it. Academics usually make for poor teachers. Much of your instruction will be from anonymous grad students and lecturers. Phil didn't even end up as a hard science major so its not like he could have benefited from the sexier topics and equipment better funded scientists get. As others have said the real value of the Ivy League is the connections. Or you can marvel how you're in a place thats referenced a lot in movies and pop culture.

Phail was never going to these schools to look at them much less attend school. The tell of this lie is that the basketball Americans were getting in before him.

Apparently Phil got in some some Boston university and he was excited to go, but then his parents guilt tripped him about the cost.
so he went to Fairfield which was close enough to where he lived.

I call bullshit on that, because if you exclude Ivies like Harvard, and non-Ivies with prestige like BU BC & MIT, you get a bunch of other private schools similar to Fairfield in cost.

Also... he said he paid back all his student loans, so did he take loans out to pay or did mommy pay? Not that the latter is a bad thing, just would be another lie of his.

This is why DSP sucks, he says one thing and it potentially retcons like 10 other statements.

phil had a scholarship due to notre dame high school I think to Fairfield, also if he went to Boston he would have had to stay in a dorm, which would balloon the cost by a bunch.

Going further into the "What if...", not only would Phil be a LOT more arrogant, instead of "I'm a mature adult with a business degree.", it would've been "I'm a mature adult who graduated from Harvard with a business degree." and you go to Harvard/Yale to get those connections and network. You get the same quality education you get at any state and/or four year university like UConn, BC, BU, etc....

Also, I call bullshit on him getting student loans. I think his dad paid for Philliam to go into college, as his dad was pulling in the big bucks and held a pretty high position at the helicopter company. I do think that they had a college savings fund for Phil to use, for him to pay his way through college, along with Dave to step in and pay for anything that may have happened during his time at Fairfield.

Also, I think his dad helped Phil through his college career. Now, hear my mentally ill thought out. Dave was already in management at the helicopter company and already had a Bachelors in Quality Management and business by this time, so, he helped Phil with his college coursework, along with making sure Phil passed his classes. Hell, I'm willing to bet a Hogan pull that he had his dad take the classes for him, as Phil chose online classes only. I say that, because his grammar is fucking HORRIBLE! I'm not going to pretend my grammar is world class, it's not, but his use of punctuation and explanation points, he is someone that can't write, spell, or even articulate himself at a college level. His writing is on the level of someone in the 6-7th grade. To be fair, so is his mental and emotional maturity. I digress.

Getting your business degree is pretty much the most basic bitch degree you can get, up there with psychology, sociology, English, and/or any other humanities degree. Computer Science was "too hard" for Phil, as his professor expected him to code after school hours? The fuck! Phil didn't have time for that, dood! He had to train in the arcades, set up tournaments to challenge EVO, and go hit on 14 year old girls at the mall when he was 23-24.

To wrap this thing up, I think Dave got Phil that college degree by taking the classes for him, as Phil purposefully did those classes online, Phil coasted on the coattails of his dad, and basically didn't earn his "business degree." Again, take this theory as what it is; a theory. Only three people know the truth: one is a known liar, the other two aren't talking.
