What if there was a Shenanigans Act?

Basically a law that is invoked when people are using the letter of a law to violate it's spirit, or otherwise using legal loopholes for abuse.

An example would be that Disney is required by law to pay actors 100% of minimum wage after three years, so every three years they cancel the show then make a new one with same setting and actors and a similar name.

The Act would be used to determine if the spirit of the laws were broken, forward the recommended change to congress to pass (with a high incentive to do so), and retroactively apply the effects of the law with punitive multipliers.

I don't think it's a good idea to give the government the power to retroactively punish anyone based upon their interpretation of the "spirit" of the law, whatever the hell that means.

You'd have to be a complete fool to follow the "spirit of the law" if it benefits you more to interpret it as literally as possible and take advantage of every loophole you can. Nobody gets rewarded for being a team player.

It would be more straightforward if laws were well written and not filled with loopholes. Just do that.

i think with the best of intentions a law agaisnt abusing loop holes and calling shenanigans on it sounds great, and it would be; problem, like always, is real world implementation. i dont see it working well and not being just a source of abuse.

Would it work if it triggered an automatic comprehensive audit of all parties involved that's contents is publically accessible, and could be protested to higher levels of court with law changes requiring sufficient support of the house, senate, and president?

Realistically it's too late to implement such laws now as the entire government needs to be scoured clean. But would such a system slow down or prevent the rot in the first place?

There are so many malicious actors operating in modern western democracies these extended powers would most likely exclusively be used to control the populace even more tightly than it already is being controlled right now.
