For a long time in the early years I thought Chris Chan had to be some sort of super wizard class troll, he was just too much to be real.
I used to think, "How will the other shoe finally drop?" or "When will he break character?"
In a lot of ways, Jace Connors was the inverse of "Classic Chris"
When Chris got discovered, a lot of people initially believed he was some sort of deep-cover troll or some sort of made-up character in the vein of Borat or Andy Kaufman's alter-egos because he seemed so ridiculous that it was hard to believe he could be real, especially in the early years before we knew as much about him as we would later on.
However, as more information was discovered and things kept progressing in the ways that they did and it became clear that Chris was real.
Jace basically started out as a believable lolcow that was commonly discussed on places like /k/ and such in 2012 and early 2013 and attracted the attention of /cow/ and Kiwi Farms (then CWCki Forums at the time) and it slowly yet steadily escalated in its scope.
Also, a hoax like Jace Connors/Deagle Nation could have only worked as well as it did because of the sheer infamy and insanity of Chris and the lolcow scene as we know it emerging in his wake.
See, any organized trolling and the hallmarks of the "Classic Chris" era essentially ended once Bob died in 2011 and then the Snyder incident happened a couple months later that year which forced Chris into a long period of relative silence and inactivity that basically began with Bob's death in 2011 and ended with the fire in 2014.
During this span of just over two years, the PVCC troll group imploded due to internal conflicts known only to those who were in the know and also because of the agreement to stop active organized trolling after Bob died.
Around that same time, Anthony Logatto and his small circle of pals and hanger-ons were so extreme and irrational in their hatred of Chris that it made a lot of the attitudes that were the norm among the old PVCC trolling groups in the early days look and feel a lot more uncomfortable in retrospect and Bob's death proved to be where the other shoe dropped on that end.
But you also had other lolcows become more prominent as well such as ADF and Pixyteri. The concept of "lolcow communities" started to become codified further, with groups like Wizardchan, the bronies, and the early SJW's as we know them today being standout examples of what was discussed and mocked at the time in terms of "community watch" lolcows.
Between the end of organized Chris trolling, Chris's overall inactivity and silence, and other lolcows becoming more prominent and the CWCki Forums began to diversify their focus.
IIRC, Null started running this site in this time frame as well once a lot of the old PVCC dudes left the scene for various reasons.
In 2012, the only things of note that happened to Chris were the Snyder trial and the hooker. People were convinced he was done as a lolcow and that things like Sonichu and YouTube videos from Chris were truly a thing of the past. People wanted a new lolcow on the same level of Classic Chris and nobody could quite live up to the hype...
It was the perfect climate for the brilliant hoax of Deagle Nation to take root and succeed, which made the reveal of the ruse even more shocking at the time and hilarious in retrospect.
Chris was a real lolcow that people thought was so ridiculous that he had to be fake when he was first discovered and only confirmed as real as more mundane details of his life came to light.
Jace was a fake lolcow that people thought was so believable that he had to be real when he first got noticed and only when his antics reached the levels of a real-life cartoon that people started to suspect it was all an act.
TL;DR-There will never be another Chris but if anyone could come close, it would be Jace.
Which brings me to my next question...
What if Chris was a hoax and Jace was real?
