Containment What If?

Chris is incapable of forgiving anyone. In several of the Alec calls, he points out Chris would apologize for doing something but still continue doing it. Because an apology to him is just a way to get someone to stop yelling at him, he doesn't actually believe that he's wrong.

Instead of just pampering him all the time?

Would it have helped him? Taught him better interpersonal skills? Instilled responsibility in him? Got him in shape?

Or would have just been a big grand ole game of Kick the Autistic?

They did sign him up for Cub Scouts. He got kicked out for unknown reasons.

So, to amend the question, what would've happened if that incident never occurred and he stayed in the organization (for however long)?

Well, he's been thrown out of the Cub Scouts so I'd guess the same thing would happen.

The Cub Scouts

Chris stated in part 4 of his KCWC Top 10 Dedication Special that he was kicked out of the "Wolf Cub Scouts" in the late 1980s because he was autistic. Undoubtedly, it was for something he did that he didn't tell us about. His commentary suggests that he routinely angered his Den Mother with his illogical behavior and that he believes this to be the reason he is banned. In a Mailbag, Chris revealed that his parents tried to sue the Boy Scouts of America over this incident.

He'd wind up telling his mom that he'd forgiven Megan because he likes to brag about doing good deeds (or that he COULD do a good deed). The Hoard Matron would then start to remind Chris of all the horrible things that Megan has done like cause his father to die of cancer, get them kicked out of their last house, get him banned from the Game Place, cause his brother Cole to move away leaving them all alone, that she killed Patti and so on until Chris remembers it that way and the cycle of tardrage starts over again.

Apparently it didn't work out so well for him, but if he had been able to stay in I don't think it would have made too much of an impact on him overall. If he was uncooperative, the troop leader would probably have just let him do whatever in a corner as opposed to trying vainly to teach him anything.

Not having been in Boy Scouts, would it have been possible for Chris to slip through the cracks and not participate, like he did in school? Boy Scouts just strikes me as a very hands-on organization, one that wouldn't tolerate Chris's brand of lackadaisy lightly.

yeah you gotta work

What Chris says he's done to be banned from a place is never why he was banned. So, much like the (real) reason he was banned from anywhere else, he probably made snarky comments and tried to blame anything and everything on his autism. He hadn't hit the age where he was girl-crazy, but he probably still raged at nothing and everything and all those around him couldn't handle it anymore.

But, for arguments sake, let's say he had stayed and made it to Boy Scouts and all that good stuff... Well he'd be SUPER pissed that this year BSA's new policy states they are going to allow and fully accept anyone who is openly gay or who comes from an openly gay family. He'd probably make a video about it, much like his Axe Body Spray videos.

What makes it interesting is that his removal happened while he was still in/right at the tail-end of his mute period, so he would've had to have done something outrageous or have been a mounting frustration, as opposed to mouthing off.

I did Girl Scouts for a few years when I was little and one meeting our leader asked if anyone had anything else they wanted to do. I mentioned I got a new Pokemon book and she said I could sit down and read instead of whatever it is we were going to do that day (not that I wanted to do that. I forget the context since I was in elementary school. Maybe I was bragging or being difficult).

I think you're right about Boy Scouts being more hands on and outdoorsy but maybe at the lower levels sitting out is a more acceptable "activity".

I wonder how Chris would have fared in the old soviet union, or even Russia in its current form?

They did, and it really didn't work out...

Also if he ever went on a camping trip, the other scouts would have played pranks on him ( like in the hardy boys, or scouting books/movies/tv shows from the 50s)

Beaten up by Putin himself for being a homo.
