What inoffensive words you hate but don't know why? - Random words your brain thinks is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

"Empathy" -- people have taken the definition (to be able to view or feel something from the perspective of others" and turned it into an emotional result rather than an analytical viewpoint. People think empathy requires someone to feel sorry or emotional for someone, however in reality empathy is simply being able to see things from another's perspective.

Empathy doesn't actually require someone to give a fuck about the person they empathise with. People have turned empathy in to sympathy.

Just because I don't give a fuck about someone's perspective doesn't mean I lack empathy. I have a lot of empathy to think in the minds of others... I simply think most people are fucking retarded and I don't care.
Not necessarily a word, but it's similar and it's the phrase "basic human decency". Every single person who uses that term is either a sociopath or a psychopath in disguise. I've seen people utter that phrase and to nobody's surprise, they end up being some of the most wicked, vindictive, and cruel cunts imaginable. They're type of irredeemable cunt you want to stomp the skull of upon first contact.

"Cope"

It's fine if it's actually used correctly but recently I've been hearing it used as a general purpose single-word response to shut down any sort of complaint, regardless how valid it is, e.g. "hey this game crashes on my videocard is there going to be a fix" getting "lol cope" as a response.

Toxic. I get it, sometimes it is easier to just say that than "venomous", "hateful" or "embittered", but usually people use it as "behavior that hurts my fee-fees".

Cringe. Originally it was a short for second-hand embarrassment, then it became just a "oh, I don't like it, what should I say, oh, I know, cringe"

Gooning. To me goons are original users of Something Awful, not to mention that now every use of the word in its original meaning causes zoomers to giggle. Also I don't get how it came into existence, there should be a better word.

Problematic. Again, just a way to say "I don't like something therefore no one should".

Add "humanity" and "human rights" to it.

Both concepts were very much designed post-war to prevent EUROPEANS from erupting in to slaughter again. It was designed to recognise that Europeans and areas under Europeans and European originating nations shared common values and common ideals. It is now being used as a hammer to nail in the destruction of the west. Both words should have specifically revolved around the west and excluded the barbarian realms outside of it.

The word "woke" pisses me off from how casually thrown around it is by internet grifters. People are just throwing darts at a board blindly, hoping they hit a bullseye with the label (mostly for stuff that hasn't even released). You get legitimate shit like Dustborn that deservedly should be slandered from here to kingdom come and should wear that badge of shame, but those are rarities.

I hate "Euro" as the plural of the currency, for absolutely no reason. I even say it myself sometimes and it annoys me. But now that I think about it, "It costs ten Euro" and "It costs ten Euros" sound equally stupid to me. Just a dumb and cringey name for a currency, I think.

"respectful/disrespectful" grinds my gears for some reason. I think maybe i've seen too many sjw types sperging about something being disrespectful. weirdly respect/disrespect doesn't bother me

"Gubernatorial." In America, we have state governors who work in the state government to govern us. When we elect them, it's called a gubernatorial election. That inconsistency has always bugged me. I'm sure there's some fascinating etymological reason for the split. I'm equally sure we could standardize it to "governatorial," and nothing of value would be lost.

"Umami." English already has words for this flavor profile. We don't need to borrow from the Japanese for it, and anyone who does is trying too hard to sound special. It's savory. People will argue that, no, savory doesn't encompass everything that "umami" means. They're being pretentious. "Umami" literally means "savory flavor" in Japanese. It's savory. Just say savory.

"For shits and giggles". I don't know, it's just a retarded phrase.

The word "Freedom" sounds so dumb now being abused by both ends of the political spectrum. It just means nothing to me because in my opinion, nobody can really be free.

Literally.
Worst abused word at it's misusage.

I hate "literally" and "lets go". I hear adults using that crap nowadays, you can't yell "lets go" without sounding like a 14 year old roblox youtuber.

"Darwin Award" is only used by people nowadays to describe an act of stupidity. They completely miss the cleverness of the insult as a whole and seem to always use it improperly. If you asked a Gen Z who Darwin was they would probably say something like, "history man who won an award for being stupid or something".

I really can't think of any words I specifically hate so much as I hate the way they're used, especially when they've been turned into Newspeak nonsense. That's better covered in the "current year" words that piss you off thread.
