To offer a serious answer. The forum main "attraction" per say is the lolcows. Documented archives and discussion concerning internet funny people. The forum is generally seen from the outside as a "bullying gossip site where we plan gayops to harrass trannies and other retards of the internet" but direct contact with these people is frown upon.
Some are just internet famous/infamous, mentally ill people with access to internet, some are hoorifying like the zoosadists stuff. Cant talk about the beauty parlor as ive never approached, someone can probably better explain it than me. Generally most people have their personal lolcows preference that attracted them to join the site. Find a couple you enjoy following and engage with the rest of the site at your leisure.
Ive personally found it to be a, yes, a gossip site, but there isnt anything more to it. It can be seen as insensitive to laugh at these people (some who are obviously mentally ill but thats all the people here do. On the other hand, ive also seen a lot of people genuinly seem to care and be understanding. For exemple the latest Byuu drama where his thread was initially a few people that engaged in the retro gaming/emulation community being very friendly with him but then it exploded when he decided to fake his death and ppl blaming the farm for it. A lot of these lolcow might have trolls that do engage in direct contact/gayops and while they may frequent the site, its not like its a common fixture of the site. The internet is broad and with its own history. Many people frequent many other sites and those communities often overlap.
There are other parts of the forum that have taken its own shape like Articles&news and happening. The former tend to be drudged up articles to make fun of. Ranging from random blog post from pretend journo about politic, sex, gaming, etc. The later follow more big events, from war stuff, shooting, trials, etc. These 2 places are often engaged by the politicaly opiniated folks of the forum and also full of trolls that will bait these people into stupid arguments. So just a warning to you.
Then theres other sections like any other forums that about random stuff from gaming, entertainment, tech, etc and meta discussion about the forum itself.
Talking of politics, the forum, by its nature, is very anti-censorship. Feel free to say nigger and what not. Im sure some people have pretty damnable views but its generally not that overt or that crazy. If it is its msot likely someone trolling. Feel free to enter in earnest conversation with people and ignore the more egregious ones but just be warned that stuff like politics can often devolve into stupid shouting match. While the forum has seen a big influx of people that could be categorized as on the "right" seeing it as a refuge from other website, theres a lot of different political opinions and cultural diversity among the active userbase.
So yes the forum is not fond of censorship and you can read up on what Null the owner has done just to keep the forum open. Its a fascinating story on its own. His recent articles he wrote about it are very enlightening, and scary, about how the internet works.
