What is the most acceptable way to follow current events?

Most usually, I like to back up both mainstream sources (CNN, MSNBC, etc) with alternative right-wing sources like Fox News and Breitbart. That's not the exhaustive list of what I back up with, just a general example of what I do to develop my views on current events. Following mainstream sources only is dangerous and causes partisan hackery to happen.

How do you do it?

With years of experience I can use a combination of Twitter and Google random internet searches to get the gist of a current happening. Two weeks later when an A&H thread is made on the subject I can either learn something new or remember that it happened in the first place.

gonna be real i get most of my news from this place and whatever my friends are saying
i dont have a tv and im not gonna actively look for shit

Actually, though A&H.

I literally only get my news from the stories on the front page of google while at work on the cellphone, and A&H of kiwi farms. It's quite a schizophrenic selection. I used to also have a bit of talk radio sprinkled in, but lately I've even cut most of that out.

RSS feed aggregate from AP, NPR, Al Jazzera, Russia Today, CNN, CSPAN, Fox, and a few independent outlets.

I'll find a story that's shared between these outlets, read each article about it, and determine by political bias, what is and isn't bullshit.

Because Jewsmedia is the world's largest scale game of two truths and a lie, although, it's more like mostly lies with a modicum of truth thrown in so people believe it.

If you just take most everything with a grain of salt the media-at-large will at least let you know something happened, you just have to be critical of how it's being presented to you and source it from multiple agencies to get a full picture of what you're looking at. A&H is unironically one of the better news aggregation places I've seen as there's at least one Kiwi willing to be critical of a story that might confirm other Kiwis' biases, even if it's just to troll the other Kiwis.

TL;DR let other people's autism dig through the bullshit to find the gold for you and you'll retain your sanity longer. Also, being able to laugh at shit helps avoid burnout.

Reuters is one of the worlds most renowned sources.

They dont tend to do shock or scandal stories, but if you want solid facts about finance or political intrigue it's very interesting.

Great place to find info about the stock market and see how international trade is doing. +1

Acceptable in whose eyes?

Ideally you look at multiple sources from multiple points of view like Reuters, Al Jessir (sic), NYT, Washington Post, Russia Today, Der Spiegel, dozens of sources.

It depends on the topic. Some niche publications like "The Stars and Stripes" are a good source for what they are, in this case a military newspaper about military action.
