What IS wrong with Autism Speaks? - confusion

Tards malding that instead of having to live with their parents until they are 40 years old watching thomas the tank engine and drawing furry porn they will possibly have the option in the future to be able to have a normal successful life and not be a ball and chain around your parents ankles, so basically tards being tards and rejecting something that would make them stop being tards.

I think a lot of the problem is that autism is such a massive spectrum. You have those who can't communicate, speak properly, make their own decisions and are completely dependent well into adulthood, and then those who happen to be amazing at certain occupations but just flounder a bit in terms of social nuance. Those who fall somewhere on the latter end are the ones who are getting upset. The ones on the former end probably wouldn't even comprehend this sort of thing and if they did, they probably wouldn't care.

If one of these groups was given a different label, then there probably wouldn't be any debate. Let parents who have severely autistic children get their cure (so long as its proven to work) and let those who are otherwise functional make their own decision about the whole thing. No need for shit flinging.

There are WAY too many autists buying into this "neurodivergent" newspeak shit. Autists are being told they're special and talented and it's bullshit. It's a birth defect and a mental disability so these cunts need to stop "affirming" retards. I support autism speaks 100% because I am a reactionary. Total 'tism death

Everybody talks about a cure for autism or preventing autistic babies from being born, and aside from the "eugenics" argument, what good does that do to actual autistic people currently living?? Hypothetical gene editing or invitro treatments won't do shit for someone who's 12 and can't be mainlined with their peers at school, or an autistic adult who's thrown to the wolves because they're not retarded enough to be in a group home but not normal enough to hold down a regular job. AS focuses way too much on demonizing autism and hyping up a hypothetical cure and not nearly enough on helping autistic people who currently exist.

People are dealt a shitty hand when rolling into life all the time. Someone born without any ear muscles formed into their skulls? Well it is what it is then, you just have to work with it. Sure maybe there'll be a cure/treatment/surgury to patch up those mistakes now or in the future but otherwise this is what people just have to put up with.
