It oftentimes leads to atheism, sexual degeneracy, and other unsavory things. In terms of economics it's just too ineffecient. You need some, and I do stress some since I am not a capitalist, but you do need some free enterprise and profit motive for things to work.

The left are selfish hedonists. They love to consume. As they got older and the 00s drew to an end they started to feel like their lives were missing something, that their existence was a bit hollow.
Along comes the big nosed pied piper who tells them that the negative feeling is really because these esoteric phantoms known as ALT RIGHT, CHRISTIANITY, WHITE PEOPLE, NATIONALISM etc are evil and are causing harm to the world, and that they needed to help rid the world of this. Additionally, if they did as ordered and completed their mission they would be given LUXURY AUTOMATED COMMUNISM so that they could consume more than ever before.
The left dutifully followed orders and completed their tasks. In the 10s it was a gravy train, you can cause damage to the west but suffer no consequences in your own life, and be given all sorts of benefits for doing so.
In the 20s however, the west is so down bad that even the left are feeling the effects of the damages they have caused, it's just that they can't ever admit that they are the cause of anything, instead they see everything as a random occurrence. The reduced quality of life has made them more unhinged and miserable.
And the irony is that the further they destroy the west the further from easy consuming they go, it would almost be tragic if they weren't so horrid.
