What is your favorite breed of dog?

Most dogs my family owned were mutts. Good animals for the most part though you could see what breed shined through the most.

Really fond of pugs but I feel awful for how breeding has made them even more fucked up. Even the pugs I grew up with were less malformed than the ones you see now.

Labradoodles because they were the first dogs I ever had.

I've had plenty of dogs but the labradoodle was my favorite. Big goofy bastard that humped everything, broke windows, and shed a lot, though. RIP.

I like any and all dog-shaped dogs. Weird smash-faced breeds or fucked-up genetics? GTFO. I don't mean breeds like corgis or borzois, for whom looking like that is part of the breed. I mean stuff like this:


I'd get a mutt any day of the year before paying money for a purebred dog- in general, but especially with like this in the world.

I like huskies but I know I don't have the resources to keep one happy.
I met a Weimaraner once. Breathtaking. Boy are those dogs beautiful. They were used as large hunting dogs, so they're not for the inexperienced owners, but the one I met had a wonderful temperament, they seem mentally kinda like German Shepherds but more serious. Or Great Danes. About the same size as Great Danes. Very soft fur, steely blue eyes.

Not a big dog person but I do like Corgis. I like Siberian Huskies as well but I’ve heard they can be quite a handful. I’d like one but I don’t have the time to properly interact with it.

The kind I was raised with, Shetland Sheepdog. They're one of the most intelligent dog breeds. People usually think of them as little collies.

You can tell how strong behavior is baked into genetics, because most every Sheltie has a strong instinct to herd (they like to try to lead people and nip at the heels when you run with them).

I'm particularly fond of samoyeds due to their pleasant temperament and beautiful appearance. Excellent family dogs, but not the smartest/most trainable. Any working spitz breed that hasn't suffered too much from detrimental show breeding is good though. Jämthund is a great one.
