What is your favorite controller?

Dualshock 4 is great and light, but I've come to love the Dualshock 5. If they could make a DS5 that was just a bit lighter it would be perfect.

All of the dualshock have been great for me. Love how comfortable they always feel in my hands.

The 360 controllers are also very comfy, but they've always worn out faster than the dualshock for some reason. And I swear the wireless ones drain faster than the wireless dualshocks do.

Despite the cheesy AF looks, I like the Forza Horizon 5 X-Box controller.

The rubber grips on the bottom make the controller feel better to use.

Gonna have to go with the basic bitch answer of dualshock 4. It's just comfortable, has the right dpad placement for all my old ass emulator games, has the lowest input lag of all the wireless controllers, and has lasted me like 4 years now. The xbox controller I had got a broken bumper in less than a year of playing dmc games. Oh, and steam just supports it native now so I no longer have to use that shitty third party app to make it work on pc.

I've been playing armored core for answer on my ps3, and I hate the dual shock 3 so fucking much. The triggers are so flimsy that it's super hard to hit the sweet spots for boosting and hovering, and it just creaks in my hands all the time. I've been trying to grip it as softly as possible, but it's hard to because I have to do quad trigger grip on armored core.

Dualshock 4 is perfect for PC. Materials are nice, stick placement is symmetrical (fuck MS and Big N for asymmetrical bullshit), touchpad is rather useful when menus aren't optimized for controller use.
The only thing that sucks about DS is its useless light bar. No one owns PSVR and yet people are forced to waste power on some blue light.

Going into the controller options in Steam or DS4Windows lets you turn the light off or dim it. A couple games like Cyberpunk use the light, but I think it has to be plugged in anyway because Sony has a stick up their ass about not wanting official drivers.

I don't want to use an additional program for a non-Steam game just to turn the light off.

Most of the time it's just a gimmick. For example in GTA 5 the light blinks like a police light when cops are after you.
The light bar is only useful in local coop games when you want to differenciate players by their color.

PS3 controller was peak. Even when Xbox scaled down their controller, it still had weird button placement. I won't even acknowledge Nintendo in a well built controller contest unless it's pre-N64. The PS4 stepped backwards with battery life and the touch pad was was awkward.

Does WASD count? ever since I ascended to the master race, I just cannot play with game controllers anymore. Even for games that are PC ports intended for use with controllers, I end up using keyboard and mouse instead.

When I was very young I owned a see-through purple Nintendo 64 controller. She was beautiful. I miss her.

The 8BitDo Pro 2 Wired is my personal favorite that I've ever used

Great controller with a fantastic D-Pad

I got myself an 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth controller recently, and the thing fucks. Maybe it's a bit autistic to say, but I love how it feels to even just hold it in your hands. It's sturdy, comfortable, and responsive. Obviously, I still use it wired whenever possible.

When it comes to Punch-Out Wii, I don't know what I hate more:

1) The fact that you can't turn on subtitles despite the fact that 80% of the boxers don't speak English.
2) The fact that you can't use any other controller than the Wiimote. The game would be a lot easier if the d-pad didn't have a mind of its own.

I know you can turn it on its side and use it like a NES controller. That's how I played it. Worked fine. Is your D-pad busted?

I haven't tried them all but my absolute favorite was the XBox1 controller. The only letdown in it was the MicroUSB port. Ergonomically it was absolutely the best I've tried.

DualShock4 controller was significantly cheaper but it also felt cheaper, the touchpad was unnecessary and the triggers and bumpers felt worse.

I hold it sideways like a normal NES controller but my guy dodges instead of ducks when I press down. Maybe the D-pad is too sensitive. I never had this issue with Mike Tyson's Punch Out on original hardware (and I can go the distance with Tyson) or Super Punch Out on original hardware (where I can beat Nick Bruiser quite easily).

Having head to replace my DS4 because of a couple buttons getting mushy, I decided to get a DS5 and I really like it. It's ugly as shit, but I like the extra weight over the previous and fits my bigger hands better. Now if only more devs could be fucked to natively support it so I don't have to keep using DS4Windows.
