I didn't want to whiteknight him, but I really do feel a bit of sympathy for Chris.
He was around in the wild west days of the internet, I'm positive he's lower functioning than the autism label he got hit with, his parents fucked him over, and nobody actually tried to "help him" who wasn't also running their own con in the background.
I know he's not a good person, but I also think he's a good tipping point for when the internet started to modernize. I don't even think some of the most unhinged modern people here would pull the kind of shit that some people did to Chris back in the older days.
And unlike a lot of the people covered on here, I think Chris actually was a productive, semi-driven person at one point. He made one of the first Lets Plays, made his own comic and got a fucking two year college degree.
I really think it's possible to not excuse Chris' actions as a person while still feeling bad for how his life was set-up, much like characters in a greek tragedy.
