The thing about most reddit behaviours (smug, soft language, lefty, quippy, appeals to the crowd, consoomerism, soy) is that they're everywhere now. It's not just reddit.
It's the "reddit voice", which is heavily encouraged and originated in that hellsite, but it's used everywhere now. Everywhere being twitter and youtube comments, since every other forum/social media site has been devoured by reddit.
Reddit has held a tight monopoly on normie discourse for about a decade now, so their mannerisms and faggotry have spread far and wide.
It's like the rona: started in china, but it's the world's problem. It started in a subreddit 10 years ago and now it's in your living room.

someone posted this on the reddit thread at some point, i found it pretty succinct, but tl;dr the site is fundamentally designed to promote a faggot baby bitch modus of communication

I agree with the image. When I read the OP, I was about to say that what makes Reddit "reddit" is largely censorship. As the image describes, people learn to self-censor. Almost every subreddit uses automod to automatically censor posts based on certain keywords. You have to log out to see if your post has been censored. There are many, many subreddits where any comment that contains the words "black" and "crime" ...even if the words aren't adjacent, is automatically deleted.

The ideology that looks at that and thinks, "I'm okay with this" will, in very short order, be using AI to censor in more intelligent ways. It's actually really scary what the near future holds for normies. They already live in a bubble where they have no fucking clue what's going on in the world. It's only going to get worse.

Where did it start? Where did "reddit" (the censorious ideology, as opposed to Reddit the threaded discussion website) come from? It largely came from Something Awful.

I don't know how or why it grew there, but they took over a subreddit named "Shit Reddit Says" and would link to anything that triggered them. That subreddit, and the others like it, were the first time I ever saw censorship as a core component of an ideology on Reddit.

SRS would auto-ban you just for posting in subreddits they didn't like. They would make ridiculous claims about a comment elsewhere on reddit, and if you pointed out that they were wrong, regardless of how politely you did it, they would delete your comment and ban you.

That ideology somehow spread and took over all of reddit. So if you ask me what "reddit" is, that's my answer. It's not even necessarily left vs. right. It's the censorship.

R*dditors say things they hope onlookers will agree with, rather than things they hope will further the discussion. That's the key difference. On 4chan, which is the opposite of R*ddit in terms of incentives, you're encouraged to be provocative and challenge the comments you're responding to in order to get (you)s from people that are upset by your reply. On Twitter, you're supposed to tweet things at your followers that they didn't know, and will find interesting and valuable. That's true of the posting game on R*ddit, but for commenters the best bet is to post things that you're confident that the average user already knows and already agrees with. Everything awful about R*ddit is downstream of this. The sticker farmers on Kiwifarms are extremely R*ddit, and removing reaction notifications and scores from profiles was an essential step in excising their cancer.

I think quippy language was inevitable since everything modern is conveyed with 150 character tweets or Tiktok videos under a minute in length.

The real problem with Reddit is it's never going to challenge you. There are no eccentric people on Reddit who believe ridiculous things and make you consider their point of view (or at least none who don't get banned really quickly.) Books used to do this but nobody reads anymore. Any heavily-moderated space full of sensitive neurotic people with delicate opinions and an obsession with "a good fit" is never going to have a decent community for this reason. Luckily we would never use a website like that, fellow kiwifarmer.

But more important than all of that: Reddit is really convenient if you run a business. Do you want to fool the normalfags into believing something? Have a bunch of bots post a consensus on Reddit and have them all upvote each other. It's really effective astroturfing and it only costs a couple grand (most of it bribing the mods.) Companies use Reddit this way all the time.
R*dditors say things they hope onlookers will agree with, rather than things they hope will further the discussion.
Unironically so does this place. Me even mentioning this will probably annoy a lot of people for no reason.

This is why every reddit post sounds the same. One difference between Reddit and old school forums is that Reddit encourages this samespeak. It's so bad that people have set up bots that can almost make a perfect Reddit post, that is the bots that we know of. Hell, I even saw a Redditor that said proper grammar was a right wing dog whistle, because leftist are more likely to be empathetic to people with learning disabilities and people that don't speak English as a first language.

A lot of times all you can do is shake your head and walk away from mob mentality situations because you'll never convince anybody, no matter how sound your argument is. People like to have their presuppositions reaffirmed, even when there's obvious, verifiable evidence to the contrary.

If yoooovve ever done the following:

  • Been incredibly pedantic and obtuse when it wasn’t needed.
  • Autistically mashed the downvote/negrate button because a stranger on the internet doesn’t like the same kind of media you do
  • Has an autistic hatred of anything Christian but will happily suck the dick of Islam
  • Is so far left you make hippies look like Nazis
  • Makes any excuse you can to normalize pedophilia
  • Claims to make over 6 figures as an engineer but in reality is a morbidly obese 40 year old still living with mommy
Ya might be a redditor

IMO something being "Reddit" is basically saying something so unnatural that you can only see it popular on Reddit. Like a video of a bunch of black guys beating the shit out of a white dude having a comment genuinely saying "I bet he said something racist". At best if you were to say this anywhere else you'll get a 50/50 split whether it be on Xitter, FB, YT, with the responses being a mix of "You're a fucking retard if you believe this" and "people don't ever commit crime for no reason". On Reddit though, this kind of comment can get mass up votes with a majority agreement as anybody with any level of rationale get's banned for pointing out the obvious that is, niggers beating up white people is 99% of the time niggers being niggers.

Don't forget the person who complains about being a broke loser who mainly interacts with the most popular subs but always has to talking like they're 130 IQ and that everyone right of Stalin is retarded.

Reddit is where you go to virtue signal to show how much of a "good" person you are by parroting the current thing. It's filled with tranny worship of the extreme kind. You are not allowed to say that men can't be women. It's a site where you can't have a rational discussion with someone about, say, WH40K without some soybrained jackass comparing it to fascism and then claiming that your attempts to show that it's bigger than fascism is actually a defense of said fascism.

Reddit: where everything that might offend someone is fascist and you're a Nazi if you say otherwise.

The difference is, if you say something that might not be universally accepted on reddit, it will get hidden from view and probably deleted by the tranny mods. Here, no matter how disagreeable or against the grain your comment is, you can still get your point out if that's what you were trying to do. Most might dislike it, but at least everyone can still read it. Being able to rate comments will always bring out the type of personalities who enjoy positive reinforcement, no matter how insignificant. Those who enjoy this will make agreeable, low effort posts that will be received positively. I don't think this is a problem though, because I feel like it isn't rampant enough to be a real issue. Plus, if you find it unbearable, you can ignore that user. It's pretty obvious when every comment from a user is like this.

You mean, like at the Thunderdome?
Hello Kind Stranger!

DAE think this is so true?

No transphobia in the replies or I will call the mods.

Yes, IMO JK Rowling does deserve to be boiled in Acid.

Please updoot if you think this is true:

You need to take several measurements:
1. The ammount of cuck in the posts.
2. The ammount of cope in the posts.
3. The ammount of seeth in the posts.
Those are the metrics that allow to make the right decision. Redditors are known to occasionally be cucked, cope and seeth at the same time.
