I can't think of a more perfect example of reddit than that.

If enough people care more for the one character rather than the entire thing the character is based on. Pic related.

Depends on who you ask.

There's a portion of retarded lefties that still think Reddit is still pre-Ellen Pao Reddit and full of "evil chuds" and think that their enclaves in places like tranny subs or Gaming Circlejerk are the only "sane" places on the site.

The more realistic answer is that it's faggots regurgitating quips and jokes to other faggots for internet points. People repeat jokes and don't dare deviate from what's acceptable in their given part of the hive, because that leads to downvotes, which are worse than anything else. People will google one article on a top and then repeat info from it like they're sage experts.

If I had to sum it up to one short phrase, left wing psuedo-intellectual would probably be my quick summary.

Oh and don't forget their love of drugs, porn, and other short term, hedonistic pleasures.

Redditors love porn because Reddit has always been a porn site veiled as a "super message board". There's a lot we don't know about Reddit, and for all we know it could have been envisioned as a porn site with regular content to capture coomers' time and legitimize the use of porn sites/porn culture among normies -- after all, Facebook was originally created to rate female classmates' attractiveness. That r/jailbait was the most popular subreddit of 2008 and was only banned after repeated national media exposes says a lot about Reddit's intentions from the start.

Imgur at first and now Reddit has become "normie baby's first interaction with a community that makes them feel heard and part of an exclusive club", except the exclusive club is a top 5 website. Early imgur had a bunch of small meet-ups etc, then one day I saw a post going "Omg i went out with an imgurererer and he tried to rape me! cancel him! not cool!", and that was the most reddit shit Ive seen: Thinking you're part of a small club and acting like it's the local tennis club, going out of your way to write novels and partake in societal dynamics when in reality it's 80% bots.

To be Reddit is to put way too much effort into something absurdly simple when you're too old to still be fascinated or groomed by this 'exclusive club' mentality. A doomer dude can write a novel about his favorite doom level but given the right vibe, it's just a blog post. Give it another angle; one of "Omg this is so fascinating I must tell people" and it becomes reddit esque. It's almost like a measure of over/sharing. Putting in way too much effort, clearly being unable to process things in your head and for your own pleasure as opposed to needing to trauma dump your entire weekly narrative across 8 subreddits.

Tik tok and reddit are cancer that have to be banned.
Reddit is pandora's box that opened itself for people to damage the internet for chance that their nerd media won't be bullied and become mainstream to the point that everyone likes it.
I think reddit and twitter promote fandom immigration. I made up that up basically it means it associates the greatness and likability of fandom with skin colour.

You know how back in day people didn't like sonic because almost everyone there was either kid or fat, obese autistic white man but second black rappers and black people started liking sonic then it's ok because Tyrone and his favourite musicians with big booty whores and latinas like it that means it's good, right? Now because pretty people like it for views and attention since it's now "normal" to be goy that means we goys who put 0 effort in anything can go around without being bullied and made fun off so we have to be inclusive. Fuck them both to hell and their ideals that poor shitskins and models are now the main deciding factors in quality, this is why they are gatekeeping because people don't even understand nor care for half of media they think it's ok to like now

Remember, just because it's normal doesn't mean it's good or right

Reddit is normie soycuck bughive behavior.
Updoots are aids. Jannies are neckbeards and/or trannies.

Just like Wikipedia, it's alright for non-political stuff (especially niche stuff).

I'm super happy to be corrected here, but....wasn't Imgur created so that Reddit had a place to upload photos and pictures to? How the fuck did Imgur get a community? Do they have boards or something now? From what I remembered of the site the interface was literally "drag and drop your image here" then it gives you the link then you leave immediately.

I would say knowing something is from reddit is just kind of a feeling. At least I know it when I see it when it comes from reddit. I think what it is is many years ago people started calling it "the front page of the internet" and that gave them all an ego boost that has had dire consequences for normies

I think it just imported gay pRedditor culture, probably by way of trannny-jannies, updoots, and comments. If you scroll through the homepage, or even look at what's suggested in the sidebar on an otherwise normal picture, it's the same mix of:
- heckin' cute baby animals
- Current Year politics, but with middle school edgyboy swearing (happy Fucking Priderino to all my Rainbow Motherfuckers!)
- Orange Man bad, but extra sassy, y'all! (BLMs pls updoot this pasty white ally!!)
- the same cringe atheism reddit has been doing for 15-20 years, probably by the same edgelords who were 15 back then and now are 35+ Marvel-appreciators

In other words, this:

ya'll, wholesome, toxic, sarcasm, virtue signaling, can we all agree, appealing to both sides as if they were both equally unreasonable, and stating that something other than a woman turned you on. a bit of woke helps too

I've never used any social media just forums and IRC. On a previous account on this site I had I had to disable sticker notifications because I noticed that I started to write shit just to get stickers good or bad since there is no karma here. Just disabling notification was enough to not chase reactions and keep my own "voice".

I am old, antisocial and just generally oppositional to the current thing. I can only imagine how the updoot-economy would affect socially agreeable people if just stickers got me this bad.

In conclusion, Reddit was poison from the start.

If theres a huge amount of memes unironically related to it and people non stop spamming htem and acting all uwu schizos then yeah its reddit magnets case in point suda51 and swery and the yakuza fandom these days.

Thank you for finally clearing things up for me. Your post is the perfect example of reddit.
