What things do you obsess about?

As I understand it, the colloquial term for this is to "sperg" about something, but it's against the rules to do that here. However, even people not on the Autism Spectrum can obsess or be passionate over certain things.

As for me, a small list of the things I obsess over includes ornithology (study of birds), geology (study of rocks), environmental studies, foreign languages, and ancient Egyptian culture. What about you guys?

Cars, firearms, bass guitars, punk rock music, military vehicles and equipment.

i was actually thinking about this the other day. i really find it hard to feel passionately about anything really. i do obsess over cleanliness, and punctuality though

-old newspapers from the 1980s and 1990s
-Diet Coke
-The Simpsons
-Conan (lol not stalker obsessed, but I like to record every episode of his show onto dvd-actually you know, I'm pretty obsessed over recording all my favorite tv shows onto dvd, I guess when I had a vcr, you could call me a "tapehead".)
-old commercials
-retail history
-high end cosmetics

I'm, honestly, not really obsessed with anything. I'm more of a jack-of-all-trades. I get it from my father, really. I just take an interest in everything because I'm a curious person.

Yep same here. The only thing I can honestly say I obsess about is money. I was so broke for so long that for years due to no work, part time only, and low paying gigs that I had to budget myself down to the dollar. For example buying a toaster was enough to mess me up pretty bad for a month or two and if my car had died and I had to get another one it was virtually an end of days scenario. Shit sucked and I don't recommend being that broke.

Now I'm actually pretty well off but after having such a strict budget and always knowing how much I had at all times for years and years I still find I keep track of how much I have religiously. :tugboat:

I guess other then that if I obsess over anything it would be antique firearms and my hair.

  • Dogs with stumpy legs and long bodies: Dachshund, Corgi, Swedish Vallhund
  • Stephen King's The Dark Tower series
  • Princess Mononoke (mostly Yakul)
  • Cryptozoology

Kamen Rider, movie buff, spicy food, old advertisements. I'm no longer the hardcore gamer I was before college, but I still like to get my hands on rare PS1 and PS2 games. I dropped 60 for Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne 2 months ago and haven't had time to play it. Raspberry-flavored treats and Red Velvet cake.

Conversations.

I'm practically addicted to having conversations with people. To the point where I'd drop what I'm doing to have a conversation about the state of politics in Indonesia with some random person.

Sciences like anthropology and environmental science and whatever franchise I happen to be into at the moment.

Currently: my health. With another person riding on and my body opting to have as much difficulty as possible in the last three months (anemia and gestational diabetes is not a combination I'll recommend), I've gotten so neurotic about any and all spasms, muscle tics, aches and pains.

Usually: food (I adore cooking and getting the chance to try new things), my job.

I collect wristwatches. They're neat. I don't know if I "obsess" over them though.

Actually, since we're pointing out specific things here, I might as well list off my most common interests, the things that no matter what, I always come back to. I can't say I'm obsessed because these things don't control my life, but I study and practice them very often and try to be as perfect as possible in each field.

Science, since I'm a science major and all. Life sciences, anatomy, anthropology, environmental science, physics, chemistry, pretty much every component for forensics, which I was studying to go into for a few years until I decided a broader major would open more doors for me (biology major, still thinking about biochemistry). I'm usually most content during a time when I have a science class these days. I used to completely suck at it and not have much of an interest until my physics teacher turned me around and showed me the light (mostly through that lab on circuitry and how good I felt when I led a team to complete something). Although I always had an interest in forensic science ever since I found out it was a thing. It's just that it wasn't until later when I took an interest in every individual part of it.

Art. Well, just drawing, really. I'm really not much, but when I get into it, wheeeeeeeeew, I get into it. My stuff still comes out like crap, but I'll sit there and read techniques and talk with people about it for days.

Music's a big one. I can play multiple instruments, but only have access to a guitar right now. I sing too. In Russian. And not just playing or creating music, I just love listening to it, all genres. It's always had this big huge role in my life for some reason.

Believe it or not, mathematics. I'm fucking awful with math. Many times, I've just gotten fed up with it and wished it was dead. But the ability to do it correctly isn't what interests me. I just like working with numbers. I like long division and calculus and factoring and all that crap nobody paid attention to in high school. I'm just incredibly flawed in the area is all. I still manage to leave the class with an A or B, though.

Literature. You won't always find my nose in a book, but I really do love reading. Magazines, textbooks, works of fiction, comics, manga, newspapers, it's really the best way to stimulate yourself.

Trucks. I think I've talked enough about these things here for everyone to know the score.

Animals (yes, sadly, even cats). I'm one of those kids that preferred Animal Planet over cartoons as a kid. I was never a big fan of insects, though. Just mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, and so on.

As was just stated by Houligan, my health, hygiene as well. I know damn well how to diet and how to keep myself clean, and the end result always makes me feel fresh and alive.

I can really go on forever about all the things I take these huge interests in, but I'll cut it short here. And even then, if I'm not interested in something, I'll at least try it (unless it's something like murder or drugs or MLP or something screwed up like that).

Pro wrestling - Some write it off for being fake but I can't get enough of it. I love the video games too.
Street Fighter - I must have spent 100s of hours playing the 4th installment. Really competitive with a steep learning curve.
Training - Almost obsessed. I'm in the best shape of my life and I fell fantastic.

Me too. It was about the only thing I liked in high school. I hated English with a passion.
