Recently I went through a bit of a weird rabbit hole where I was looking at threads of people discussing things that you used to be able to find online but can’t anymore. Anyone have any good ones?
 
lots of things haven't been "wiped" maliciously. things just disappear.
it's known that i'm a usenet sperg and have an interest in heaven's gate.

lots of usenet posts, just lost to time.
videogame scene releases from Maphia, in particular, are gone, BBS stuff
snes and sega βetas that were unique have been updated and replace by clean no-intro ROM releases.
no one wanted a shitty βeta after the final release of whatever game was released.

likewise some heaven's gate draft materials that "the class" posted are gone
for the same reason, because writings were updated with later versions
no body wanted the old materials, than they killed themselves...
people say once it's on the internet it's forever, but that isn't the case at all.
if you want it, and don't save a local copy, it could be gone forever one day.

All of my internet hangouts from the early 00's are dead and gone. Nobody will ever know what a retard I was in my young adulthood.
 
A lot of the sites I used when I was a teenager are either gone or on the verge of going under, there's always the wayback machine, but it's almost just not the same as being there back in the day browsing the site and using it.
 
I liked that SeventhStyle website where one of the writers just shat on stuff like Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan. I think that's when I first encountered words like "cum dumpster".

A lot of the early gore and uncensored violence you could find on the early internet is gone. Especially the stuff that got sadistic. You still see threads of stuff on the different image boards, but nothing coming close to the archives of content available before.

Lot of ameatur porn from the early 00's is gone forever. Especially stuff you could find on early torrent sites. (This was an age where ameaturs were actual real couples and not low budget studio work.) Though the sheer amount of CP was disgustingly easy to find. The early 00's were a golden age for pedophlies as they got early access to the internet before most authorities knew what was going on. You had to be real careful on early file sharing sites to avoid that garbage.

Tons of old flash based stuff and old fourms with valuable info are gone. Emulation sites and video piracy places are still common but usually require a little more digging or a invite for access to anything deep.

Almost all of the 90's-00's university research and other science papers of the era were much easier to find and bypass their paywalls. The sheer amount of info that was effectively public was unreal. Paywalls and other security regulations that were slowly rolled out after 9/11 has made this way more difficult.

I don't know.. with the rise of Mexican cartels and Brazil being the shithole it is, there's tons of gore online. Not to mention when ISIS was still kicking.

True, but outside of the cartels and ISIS, the more general population stuff is harder to find. That shit is usually also staged a bit.

I'm talking about people killing cops for being pulled over or Poughkeepsie Tapes level stuff.
