what was your favorite product placement or ad in media?

The omnipresence of Calorie Mate in the Metal Gear Solid 3 made me try it when I moved to Japan a decade ago and I ate a lot of it for a while during work.

It's only years later that I learned that it's poison, a disgusting mix of vegetable oil, sugar, and soy.

Speaking of MGS, Kojima doing product placement with Triumph Motorcycles but not adding a functional motorcycle to his fucking open world game was pretty funny.

I'll have to say Subway in Happy Gilmore is a big one for me, though.

"Talk about a hole in one!"

iirc Return Of The Killer Tomatoes has a gag where they run out of money to make the movie, so they start putting product placement in, so the bad guy's lair now has a Sprite logo on the side and stuff

The Hire series produced by BMW was some real kino. Although I was a toddler when I first watched it, I still remember the following commercial featuring Madonna and Clive Owen:

I remember in the movie “Evolution” the key to defeating the aliens ends up being Head & Shoulders shampoo and the ending has a gag where the heroes do a commercial for Head & Shoulders as the shampoo that saved the human race.

Fun fact I learned about killer tomatoes, the drummer of soundgarden was a kid of one of the people who made the move and he made the song scares the tomatoes.

Legit: The Barbasol can from Jurassic Park as it was a legitimate plot point. It was a similar main brand shaving cream in the book so it's came off as authentic

Funny: Every product shown in The Sopranos, where they mention the brand and then one character says "Oh i heard that was the best." They had to be taking the piss at that point.

The Bond films are always the best. They do something like 50 million dollars a film of product placement. Yet align the brands so they're luxury shit that fits in Bond. Or it's a lol like Bond driving a Ford.

Matt Cameron was also inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of Pearl Jam. Not too shabby for the kid that sang that earbleed song.

I'm one of the few people who thought Mac And Me wasn't that bad. It's one big absurd McDonald's commercial. A little less in your face about it than The Wizard was with Nintendo. But I don't think you'd see movies like that today. They didn't give that PSP kid that was big for a hot minute a movie. But if it had been in the 80s I'm thinking it might have happened.
