What was your first console?

Goof Troop and a Pole Position clone for the SNES. Moved onto GameCube with an all-nighter on Super Mario Sunshine. Fell in love with RPGs when I got Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

TI-99 4A. Not really a console, but it did take proprietary game cartridges (or a tape drive).
Didn't have one of these at home until much later, but I put a lot of mileage on it in preschool.
Similarly not-quite-a-console but the first thing I had at home was an Atari 800xl, so I never knew a Donkey Kong without the cement level.
First dedicated console was an NES.

First played? NES, though I enjoyed my SEGA Genesis and SNES more.

First I bought with my own money? PS2.

My NES and PS2 still work, too. They seem to have better longevity than anything newer.

Technically a Commodore 64 but my dad mostly used it for nerd shit and we only had educational games.

First actual console was a Sega Genesis, the Sonic 2 bundle.

Some of my earliest memories were of renting games from Phar-Mor and Hollywood Video.

I'd say PlayStation 2.

I do remember playing the Xbox first, but that was my sister's evidently.

SNES, followed by N64 and a gameboy. Then i moved to PC gaming and never owned any other consoles.

First played on? Commodore at a friend

First personal one? Master System 2 (I still have it and it probably still works though I don't hve a TV to plug it in anymore)

It's sort of a three-way answer depending on how you define "console".

First device we had attached to a television upon which we could play games: one of those Sears Pong clones.

First device we had upon which we could play games on cartridge: Commodore Vic-20 (which we didn't get until 1984, by which time its successor the Commodore 64 had already been out 2 years).

First dedicated videogame console: Sega Master System.

Nintendo 64, but the only game we had was Super Mario 64. My dad worked for Silicon Graphics so that might have been related.

The first personal console I owned was the PS2, but all my friends were staunchly in Team Nintendo so I ended up getting the Wii, DS, etc. and forgetting about Sony.

My first console was the original PlayStation, and my first console game was Ape Escape). That being said, my first gaming system was the Gameboy Pocket.

I miss Ape Escape.

GBA SP as well. I still have it around, got it repaired recently because the internal battery died and I felt like playing it again.

For home consoles, it was a Wii. Could've been something like a PS2 or a Gamecube, but my mom refused to buy me vidya until I was a little older, and by that time they were already near the end of their lifespans.

I do have a NES, but that was a later gift to us by another person who had it catching dust.

NES when I was about 4 years old.

Castlevania was the first video game I had ever played. The first console I bought with my own money though was probably a PS2.

Either the VTech Socrates or the Amiga 500.
Reminds me, I had this one thing as a very little kid that was made by VTech, but I can't remember the name for the life of me. Sort of a handheld thing, played word games, had little plastic punch cards to choose games. Have any idea what it was?
