What were your first FPS games?

Bare memories of Doom one tine when I was vert young. The ones I grew up playing was XIII, Medal of Honor: Frontline and Medal of Honr: Rising Sun, and the first Turok game. I didn't even really get into Doom until I was close to the age of 13.

I played Wolfenstein 3D briefly at a friend's house and later Turok but the first one I really got into was Goldeneye.

Goldeneye's one of the only pre-2000s FPSes I can still play and have a great time

My very first FPS when I was a young'in of 5 was Star Wars Battlefront and Republic Commando, RC being my favourite by far because of the fun and interesting characters and cool guns and gore. Then I played a SHIT TON of old school FPS because my based as fuck uncle gave me a fucking TREASURE TROVE of old FPS games he had. By the time I had set foot into the realms of Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem 3D, I was hooked to the genre as a whole.

Ever since then, I still play Republic Commando once a year to remind myself of that key, crucial game that got me into gaming in general, and still wonder if my homie Sev is out there, killing hordes of Trando scum for a squad he may never return to.

Thanks Lucasarts, your Apocalypse Now style one-off of Star Wars turned me into the gun loving, monster blasting, atmosphere craving gore hound I am today.

The first FPS I played was Halo 1 at a friend's house and the first I owned was Star Wars Battlefront on the PS2. I've loved FPSs ever since but none of the current games scratch the same itch that the pre 2011 FPSs did.

Wolfenstein 3D was the first FPS I ever played. Moved on to Doom after that, and played an ungodly amount of Duke Nukem 3D after that.
Same. My dad showed me wolf3d on his office computer and it blew my mind. I was used to regular nintendo and had never seen a video game with blood and dead bodies staying on the ground, with swastikas and nazi flags on the wall. Very cool! Also, the first person style was new and very neat to see for the first time.

It blew my mind all over again when he showed me wolfenstein a couple months later, but this time with his new Soundblaster installed. It was like a brand new experience. Doom was huge too. I'd talk about Doom with a friend from school and found out later he had been playing with PC sounds the entire time, because he later came to school very excited when his father got a sound card and he finally got to experience Doom the way it was meant to be.

Wolfenstein 3D. Also not a shooter, but I also played a fucking ton of Ultima Underworld. I still go back and give it a run through every year or so.

DooM shareware on pc, would not play the full game until much later on PS1. First FPS I played and finish was probably the original Medal of Honor on PS1.

Duck Hunt

Zero Tolerance on the Mega Drive. Thinking back on it, its pretty insane they managed to get something like that running on a vanilla (no CD/32X) Mega Drive.

Star Wars Battlefront on the PS2.
You played Battlefront in first person mode? Absolute fucking lunacy.

Holy shit there are some fuckin' zoomer-ass users here.

For me, my first FPS was Spear of Destiny, which was the sequel to Wolfenstein 3D (basically a map pack). At the end you have to kill the Angel of Death which was this big fucking red demon thing in a level that was nothing but blood, with ghosts floating around that you had to shoot to get past. My dad used to take forever to beat it but I remember figuring out a way to cheese the boss super easy and basically speedrunning the boss fight.

After that it was down the rabbit hole with a ton of shareware FPS games like Doom, Quake 1, Blood, etc.

DOOM, Duke Nukem3D, Quake 1 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

DOOM and Duke Nukem I got second-hand when my sister gave me her old PC, and I remember going to her house to pkay Quake 1.

Doom. Later on, I played Wolfenstein 3D. Never got around to any of the Build engine games, or any other ID tech engine games.
