There's going to be a total solar eclipse visible to anybody who isn't a stinky nigger living in the old world. What cool shit will you be doing during the eclipse.

I don’t think it will be visible to me since I live in the north, but this year I’m going to borrow a welding helmet from my grandpa and actually look at it.

I remember the 2017 solar eclipse, we were promised 80-90% visibility but we couldn't see shit. Should've made the 5 hour drive to the path of totality. Won't be making that mistake again.
I did make the effort to hit totality and it's so cool if you make it. This eclipse is moving in the wrong direction for me to enjoy it.
Imagine a sunrise on all corners of the horizon. You don't need the glasses if you're in totality. All the animal life in the area starts freaking out. The whole world goes weirdly quiet for 5 minutes while every living thing thinks the world's about to end. It's amazing. I understood why this shit happening paused wars in the past.

Wow, I don't like any of these places.

+1 to all of this, it's an unforgettable experience. Only thing to add is that, due to light hitting the earth in a way it doesn't usually, it's not really comparable to sunrise or sunset; light isn't getting redshifted or blueshifted or whatever from coming through the atmosphere at an angle. It's hard to describe, it just looks different. The only comparison I have is the GFX ball from Halo 3 that increases the saturation.

My parents are like an hour outside the central line of one of the places, near a city that hundreds of thousands of people are coming to to party over it, idk I kinda want to go out and fuck around and see it at a park near my parents old house then fuck around in the city but Ill probably just watch it from their backyard.
Im on the edge of the black band though so idk how much it will be totaled.

Lot of state governors declaring a state of emergency for the eclipse.
Y'all never had extra people in your states for an event before?

If the current plans are anything to go by, it'll be another routine day. Maybe slightly more retardation than normal, due to the interest from all of the TikTok astrologists and people who have never even heard of an eclipse until 10 minutes ago who are all of a sudden lifelong neo-pagans. The local schools all canceled classes for the day, which is completely fucking bizarre to me, because when I was in school in the 90s during one of these major solar eclipse events, we used it as a learning experience, getting the chance to go outside with those cheap glasses to watch it happen in real time.
