What would a declining America look like?

Are you gonna reply with something like “lol look what’s happening now”?

The concept of "decline" has no absolute definition. One man's decline is another man's prospering. There is no way to objectively describe what decline would look like, nor is there anything that could objectively act as "proof" of decline.

There are thousands of debates on whether or not the USA is declining but what I want to know is what would a declining USA look like? What would be definitive proof that the USA was in decline?

A doddering old man suffering from late stage dementia being declared the best candidate for leadership that the country could cough up.

I mean, we're in it right now.

Scenario 1 - America is like Rome with Donald Trump as our Julian while Kamala Harris is like Theodosius, figures like AOC and Robin D'Angelo are like Augustine and Clement with Intersectional Leftism filling the same role as Christianity. A total shift in the societal paradigm.

Scenario 2 - America is like the final years of the Weimar Republic, then Kamala Harris is the Adolf Hitler to Joe Biden's Paul von Hindenburg while Antifa and the more hardliner elements of BLM are the SA to the FBI's SS.

I don't know which is worse.

In the past, it used to be over the Cold War and street gangs, as well as drugs, teenage delinquency, and doomsday cults and survival groups. Stuff like Mad Max, Fist of the North Star, RoboCop, Cyborg, A Clockwork Orange, and Class of 1999 helped reflect these sentiments.

Nowadays, it's looking more and more to be the result of ignorance induced apathy than active antipathy. Everyone today is only not rebelling because they can have their breads and circuses while just ignoring the obvious signs of decline and malaise of the human condition and how people are treated in the system, along with conditions like a very precarious economic climate that threatens to slip into another global recession, lack of principle regarding the corporate industry that is showing to be the cut at the bud to levels of progress that we'd expect upon the coming of the 2000s in the 20th Century, and a new hot take from me: American Exceptionalism back at home with the middle class and what's being taught in schools limiting how youth should think and to be complacent with what they have along with "hate yourselves because you happen to have a lighter skin color". Kill Whitey is a different phrase and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying out their ass.

So if you ask me, the worst case scenario is that we all eventually literally live in low rate second world conditions while being told that is both what we deserve by leftists and is the "best of America" by righters as they lie out their ass and fuck the country out of a middle class and issue corporate takeovers of general necessities of life and civil services.

What world do we live in where Donald Trump is an unsung hero? The heroes are worse than the villains.

Lemme put it this way....

We're in a world that's so fucked up, Donald Trump is the closest thing we have to a hero and even then only as a "slightly lesser of two evils" scenario.

To use another historical example, think of it like the French Revolution.

The Ancien Regime was so corrupt and ineffective that everyone hated it, and most of the people who opposed it were all horrid in their own ways.

Donald Trump would be like the Girondins and the moderates who opposed the old guard aristocracy but were shitty in their own way and were murdered by the Jacobins, who were later purged when Napoleon began his ascent.

If 21st Century America is like revolutionary France, then Donald Trump and the MAGA crowd are like the Girondins while AOC, BLM, Antifa, and the Woke Left are like the Jacobins.

Kamala is like Napoleon Bonaparte and hostile powers like China, Russia, and Merkel's Germany/The EU are in a similar role as Britain, Prussia, and the Hapsburg domains that meddled with the various revolutionary factions.

When you put it like that, I would've stomached a Trump reelection just to have the Woke Left burn out.

At least with Trump, what you see is what you get. MAGA is the pimple.

Short answer is "look out your window", voted accordingly. Long answer? Atomization of constituencies, replacement of family and friends with party and state, an economic decline marked by people rushing to claim whatever scraps the elites deign to leave them, complete breakdown of civility and discourse replaced with heavily policed echo chambers/honeypots and open hostility between once friendly people over disagreements they would themselves have considered trivial a decade ago, all forms of security eroded to near nothing (economic, employment, justice, etc), complete or near complete dissolution of the idea of things like the Bill of Rights, political figureheads openly calling for the unthinkable to be done to those who disagree with them to the cheers of those surrounding them, and this is really just the beginning.
