What would a declining America look like?

Are you gonna reply with something like “lol look what’s happening now”?

It's a poorly administered state, with sweetheart Newsom at the helm. It will recover, along with the rest of the West Coast.
Based on the people leaving it, I don't think so. Moreover, Newsom is a continuation of Brown and it's not just him since Gascon is also the LA DA. Top to bottom, the state has shit administration that's more interested in letting homeless people do whatever they want, even start fires that get out of control.

Honestly California can't even keep a lot of its roads in good repair and then there was shit like the Oroville Dam, they're having trouble meeting their own needs for fire response, LA's a hotbed of fucking typhus and god-knows-what-else, San Fran's new landmarks are piles of hobo shit with used needles stuck in them like some kind of vulgar postmodernist art project, Yosemite's in the process of being turned into a goddamn landfill, Sactown's a fucking dump, the aquifer under the San Joaquin is probably damn near tapped out completely and they're likely still dumping fresh water into the fucking ocean for a stupid fucking smelt... If California's still going or even improving it might as well be fucking divine intervention at work because there's no fucking way on Earth anything else makes sense with how it's run at every level from city to county to state.

Speaking of infrastructure, what will it take for California to fix their power grid, so they don't have to import power from other states? Or is it completely beyond repair at this point?

I was going to say "an act of Congress" but that would either be insufficient or simply out of the question anyway so I'm just going to say "fervent prayers to a God they probably don't even believe exists".

It's my whitepilled take on it. Democrats/Liberals there, I feel, are too broken in their political mindset. Dianne Feinstein is planning on running for re-election, and the woman is 87 years old. She met a primary challenger who had the support of the CA DNC, and still won, in a landslide, and went on to win her seat against the Republican opponent. And Democrats there are still willing to support this because "Can't vote for or let the Republican win. Ever!"

And conservatives in California? Fucking lol. They spend more time complaining about their situation or issues like the one above, rather than push through with actual actions. Their red counties will inevitably fall.

But I believe that some on the left will gain some sense, either before or at the same the right actually moves for once.

I think the importation of energy is purposeful, as generating power creates emissions, or disturbs fish, etc. It's nice to pipe hydro-electric, down from Canada on the wires.

The town of Paradise, California burned down a couple of years ago due to PG&E's inability to clear the brushwood off the power line. That's a sign from God. Also Black Plague and general filth in LA.

Not just power, but water too. The reason why the drought of 2014 was so bad was because environmental regulations prevented building water reservoirs near the Delta Smelt, the real version of the Screamapiller. Then when Brown called everyone to ration their water, no one did. Farmers couldn't because they needed it to grow their crops and people in the suburbs just didn't do it to maintain their lawns. If it weren't for the Colorado river, half the state would be the desert it should actually be.

And of course, let's not forget the High speed rail project that hasn't been built, yet its cost increases by the billions every year. It's the biggest bridge to nowhere I've ever seen and it doesn't even exist in reality!

So I understand why Californians leave the state. It's a state where AOC's ideas are enacted in reality. The problem is Californians don't understand that their environmental virtue-signaling is the reason why the state's infrastructure is such a mess.

The decline of a nation has a manifold of facets.
Militarily, there is the decay of equipment, training standards, operational readiness rates. Equipment shortages don't get resolved, it merely gets shuffled around so a few elite units get the necessary equipment and the rest don't. Expeditionary forces are scaled back/pulled out because it is too expensive or not politically expedient to keep them overseas.
Economically there is the decline of industry and infrastructure, the growth of the divide between poor and rich. A decline in general personal home ownership and a rise in renting is also a sign of poor economic performance. Regular shortages of certain life needs (especially in a modern, western state). A decline of socio-economic mobility. An increase in nepotism/hoop-jumping.
Politically, decline means a decline in legitimacy and transparent functioning. Corruption, non-enforcement of laws, a disconnect between the government and the needs of the people. A despairing anxiety in the legislative branch of the government. If the legislature pumps out laws like mad then that is a good sign that something is deeply wrong. A high average age of the upper layers of government. They shouldn't be 18 yearolds but they also shouldnt be dementia ridden geriatrics.
Socially, a decline in life expectancy and general health. Cultural expressions that are mainly rehashing of what was successful in the past. Widespread nostalgia or millenarianism signify a deep unhappiness within the general population with the current situation and a despair for the future.

This is pretty much an endemic problem for years, anyone but the other guy almost certainly got Trump elected in part. More interestingly it makes you really complacent about the shortcomings of your candidate.

Lemme put it this way....

We're in a world that's so fucked up, Donald Trump is the closest thing we have to a hero and even then only as a "slightly lesser of two evils" scenario.

To use another historical example, think of it like the French Revolution.

The Ancien Regime was so corrupt and ineffective that everyone hated it, and most of the people who opposed it were all horrid in their own ways.

Donald Trump would be like the Girondins and the moderates who opposed the old guard aristocracy but were shitty in their own way and were murdered by the Jacobins, who were later purged when Napoleon began his ascent.

If 21st Century America is like revolutionary France, then Donald Trump and the MAGA crowd are like the Girondins while AOC, BLM, Antifa, and the Woke Left are like the Jacobins.

Kamala is like Napoleon Bonaparte and hostile powers like China, Russia, and Merkel's Germany/The EU are in a similar role as Britain, Prussia, and the Hapsburg domains that meddled with the various revolutionary factions.
The French Revolution was substantially by and for urban radicals. Catholics fought in western France under the banner of the Sacred Heart in the Vendee wars. The response to the war was genocide little matched until the socialists gave us Communism of which socialism was a supposed late stage. Others in France less fired by religion saw that the French Crown had utterly limited actual powers of taxation, which was the original problem. Nearly all aristos went into exile or kept quiet. A Catholic priests or those living under religious vows were likelier victims.

I salute the effort to provide an historical analogy, but there are too many imponderables as of now.

No optimism for the future: at best you'll have people with a "hunker down and survive" mindset, at worst a desire to tear everything down and start over.

Political elite use the nation's wealth to line their own pockets and pay off foreign threats rather than build infrastructure and invest in their citizens.

Religion is seen as antiquated escapism that has no relevance for the current times. Once dominant religions start to erode as foreign worship and cults seep in.

Patriotism and pride in one's country is no longer seen as honorable or praiseworthy, at best its a means to an end or just platitudes to appease the plebs.

A declining America is just around the corner. American ideals like Freedom Of speech are gone, Crushed by the oligarchal dictators. The 2nd amendment is going to go soon. Being labeled a terrorist for the canidate you support is terrible and isn't the best way to "Heal a divided nation". We're about to be chinas bitch boy. I am not optimistic for America's future.

Where do you get the 25 number from? The US papers still place it below 20, and STILL show the rate is overall dropping.

Which is kind of my point, poverty is dropping overtime....so maybe those policies are doing something right.
It's easy if you literally don't count all those pesky homeless and illegal aliens 😂

This person speaks the truth. California is a case study of a state with MASSIVE potential (they have almost as much oil as Texas) and a mild climate getting objectively destroyed by leftist dumbasses, woke dumbasses, and mentally retarded dumbasses somehow getting elected to office and rewarded with reelection for intentionally screw up the state. Idiotic tax politics, stupid forest management, stupid environmental policy and a giant "come on in" sign kfr Evey border jumper in central and south america and mentally disturbed homeless addict in the USA all combined to turn California into it's current shit hole..... Goddamn I hate that state so fucking much. Hate how people leave and vote in the same chucklefucks who fucked California on thier new place.

The thing about Cali's oil is it's notably lower quality than Texas crude or Alaskan but they have it in fucking SPADES. Bakersfield stinks like a pig's ass but they pump (or at least USED to pump) a ton of oil there.

But yeah I've never seen such a pretty state so horrifically mismanaged. Cali might as well be a fucking Garden of Eden and via some of the most smoothbrained shit I've ever seen they've gone out of their way to try and destroy their immense agricultural potential and neglect their bountiful natural resources in a way that can only be described as outright fucking spiteful.
