I want to write a fanfiction about a jock type that gets isekaied into this fantasy world. The thing is, I don't know how to make him have any motivation to do anything. Is he out for revenge for the person who isekaied him? I'm not really a fan of anime isekai stuff, but I like the idea of having a modern character in a fantasy setting. I was thinking of letting him be good at first, and then slowly joining the villains because he doesn't hold a lot of power because he's just a normal dude. Then he realizes that cheating is wrong and becomes a good guy again and saves the world. Kind of like an anti shonen protagonist.

There's also if he wants to go back to the real world or not. In the fantasy world, he's a great warrior but in the real world he's an wagie/amateur wrestler barely making it. I feel like there's some sort of imbalance here that needs to be addressed but I don't know how. Maybe this aspect I should just ignore.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

what kind of fantasy setting is it, is magic really accessible and big, or does it have hard rules and a minimal impact on the setting

his motivation might stem from something lacking in the fantasy world that he has in the real one, even with his shitty life there, like family, or the comfort of a small town where everyone is friends with him

what are the motivations for the bad guys

In this world humans do have access to magic since it can be learned but he's to dumb to learn magic.

The bad guys want to rule the world and he has a maguffin that can stop or help their cause.

That doesn't sound to bad actually. Just need to figure out what that is.

You can't have him join the villains because he's just a normal dude and then say here he's a great warrior but irl is a WAGIE.

He needs a foil. He needs someone to play off of.

Make him get raped and he wants to rape them back, so he needs to get back to his own world to do it. Call it "So I Was Reincarnated Into An Alligator and I'm A Rapist, So What?"
