What would finally push you over the edge? - A commentary on just how weird-bad things have been lately

Someone hurting my dog. I will harm a human physically and go to prison if they dare harm my dog.
Pain and suffering such as genocide and pedophilia have been going on for centuries, but my dog can live for only like fifteen years. For a human to harm my dog who has brought me such joy in life is punishable by death in my eyes. Fuck you, that's one of my best friends who can't defend himself and is literally perfect. I have choked out pitbulls for him and I am not afraid to put you six feet under if you harm this creature.
My problem with so much of common philosophy on self-defense is that it limits the defender to "proportional force". I've seen people all over scrutinize people for defending themselves "unfairly" or "improperly", to the point they'd need to be half dead to be justified in their eyes.

But no, harming a man's family, including his pets justifies lethal force. Same for his property in a lot of cases, if someone is going to harm you family or property, it's reasonable to think they'll harm you too.

Reactions: Meat Target
In what way could the world wosen that would fuck you up to the point where you might do some despicable shit, and are permanently changed by the experience?
I guess the breaking point for me would be to have nothing to lose.

My ideals are somewhat muted by what I have to preserve. If everything I hold dear was to be gone, then I might go all in.

On a completely unrelated note, I really liked the concept behind the last installment of the Da Vinci Code,
