Sure, but lying about your age and showing someone a fake ID aren't the same. I don't think any court would be able to convict you if you could show that you attempted to be diligent but were mislead with a fake document.

I once dated a 21-year-old when I was 29, and even then I found the maturity gap too much.

I think that's just women in their early 20s. I dated a 19-going-on-to-20 as a 22 year old and had a similar experience.

...but sometimes, not even women in their late 20s or early 30s are much better.

I knew a guy in college who slept with an underage girl at a party. He was drunk and she wasn’t but the parents tried to get him convicted anyways. He was lucky, there were multiple witnesses that attested that she went after him, including some of the girl’s friends. Basically the parents were angry because their ‘daughter was an angel.’
