what's a cool ass gun to shoot - there's a subforum for this thread somewhere

Alway liked my Winchester Model 70 the most for just shooting. However, the Luger is very fun, same with M1 Garands and muskets. Shoot the muskets with real black powder if you can get your hands on it

All the cool kids are going to laugh but I have the most fun shooting my single action .22 revolvers.
Ammo is cheap so you can spend all afternoon at the range and not worry about how much it cost.
Recoil is practically not existent, noise is easily controlled by cheap disposable ear plugs.

What I like most is the quirks of the gun force you to slow your roll and really concentrate on getting good hits.
It becomes almost meditative after a while.

I like ARs and AKs of course, but i memed myself in to buying a Mini-14 and its either Stockholm Syndrome over spending >1K on a rifle, or i just really love to shoot this thing.

I kinda want a Mini 14 because retards don't freak out over it (if it's got wood at least)

But every time I've had a chance it's been over 1000 dollars and I just can't justify it when I already own two semi auto rifles.

12 gauge Saiga shotgun. Full auto if that's available to you. If not, semi auto is still fun if you pull the trigger really fast. Use slugs and have some water melons to shoot. There's just something so fun about mag dumping 12ga slugs into a bunch of watermelons.
I've never had the opportunity to fire a Saiga but the idea of a magazine fed shotgun seems quite fun.
Shoot a mini gun

Ok serious answer, a M14 clone is pretty fun to shoot at a range if you get a chance, same with a M1 Garand. Tons of firepower. Also shoot something in 7.62x39mm. A AK or SKS is your best bet. Big boolet going fairly slow is a joy to shoot. As for pistols, a 1911 is fun.
I have had the opportunity to fire an SKS and you're goddamned right about it.

I have a Beretta CX4 Storm in 9mm that people love shooting, from back in the old days before everyone and the cousin made AR-15 based 9mm PCC. When those Italians do something right, they do it pretty damned well and unlike the AR-style PCCs that use Glock mags they look good doing it.

If I could only find a 1301 Tactical in OD Green with a decent price in the wild out here.

Can confirm, they are

I own one and damn, it's just a well built beast of a gun. A bit heavy, but that's what helps with recoil. Fun if you deploy the bayonet to feel like a badass

Doing a mad minute run with a Lee-Enfield is some of the most fun I've had with a bolt-action rifle. You should try it at least once if you get the opportunity.
I own an Enfield. I would love to do this at some point, but: .303 is really hard to find now and it's ~$50 for a box of 20 unless someone here has the hookup.

While it might be a meme, short barreled shotguns are fun. I've had the opportunity to shoot a 12" Mossberg 500 with a pistol grip that, surprising to me, took 3-1/2" turkey loads. That was fun.

Not gonna laugh at all. I love rimfire guns because you can shoot a ton and not break the bank. My favorite guns to just shoot all day with are my TandemKrossed to hell and back Ruger Mk IV and a Savage B22 with a 4-16x scope that I like to do runs from 50 to 250+ yards with. All of the turret twiddling you could want.

Go to a rent-a-range and test fire a Barrett M82. It’s literally a blast.
