What's the cheapest ring to propose with that doesn't look like crap?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
You can get really cheap diamonds and gemstones from Asia if you import it direct.

Also Amerimutts, I don’t know what the f is up with your women, that they expect rings for 5000$ or 10.000$.

Any woman who expects a ring the price of a monthly salary or two, will be at least twice as expensive to pay off in the divorce.

AVOID!

Here to double down on the Etsy silver ring recommendations. Look for something that actually looks had made, as there are a shit ton of settings that are mass manufactured in China (they will be the cheapest, like ~$50 with a really cheap stone). Silversmithing isn't very hard, and hopefully you're proposing to a woman that will appreciate an actual artisan crafted piece instead of only carrying about how much it hurt you financially.

Lab created pink sapphire is really pretty, if she likes pink. I've heard good things about moissanite. Swarovski crystals can be very pretty, even though they're just glass. Semi-precious stones can be cut to be shiny like precious stone, rather than just tumbled.
Moissanite ranks 9.25 on the Mohs scale, while diamonds rank 10 on the Mohs scale. While diamonds are slightly harder, moissanite has more fire and brilliance. Moissanite has a refractive index of 2.65-2.69, while diamonds have a refractive index of 2.42. The refractive index is the stone's ability to bend light.

Do you mean engagement ring?

There's no need for such thing. Just agree to marry and invest the savings into the actual wedding ring and don't go wild.

ebay has a lot of weird tungsten and stuff that looks interesting, won't turn anybody's finger green, and is like, twenty bucks

$25 Walmart ring. The trick is if she rejects you and tells you it because of the ring call her out and say "I knew you were in it for the money. Glad I still have 90 days to take back the $5000 ring I was going to give you after you said yes" she'll try to be on her absurdly best behavior to get you and the ring back. We're talking blowy Joey's 5x a day. Jokes on her though. When the 90 days is up she'll start being bitchy and you can remind her you already said you were done with her and all the cock sucking was for nothing.

If she says yes, Tell her you want her to pick the ring out.

Moissanite. A combination of moissanite and a light blue topaz will make a very convincing diamond and aquamarine ring. Platinum plated silver is also popular now. Look at Etsy for vintage designs. Something pretty and thoughtful but not expensive has never been easier to find.

A good shovel will run you $30. Plenty of them buried underground. You'll probably want to take a lookout to tell you if the gravekeeper's coming though.

How cheap?

I think someone mentioned it already, but ebay is dynamite for beautiful vintage fine jewelry. I would stick to a gold (white or yellow band, 14K+) since (1) it doesn't tarnish and (2) if you feel like "upgrading" in 10-20 years, it would be nice to say, "This is the gold from my original ring; my husband is a wonderful man."

I like this one a lot ($175). Here's a very pretty ruby ring ($240); rubies have a much longer history as engagement rings since they symbolize linking blood. This is a lovely diamond ring flanked by rubies ($400).

I would also stay away from pearls which are less expensive than gems but are very fragile and temperamental.

Whatever ring you select, I hope it goes well for you.

Don't do it in public.

Don't blow a lot of money on rings and a big wedding. Save it for a down payment on a home or a deposit on a shared apartment.

Good luck! :optimistic:

I agree with everyone about moissanite and gemstones that aren't diamonds but are nice. People have "starter houses", why not "starter rings"? The JEWelry industry is ridiculous the way they build expectations.

I dunno. I never got one because I was a retardniggerfaggot who married another retardniggerfaggot.

What I would say is not marry any woman who puts a high value on this.

Similar to the pawn and antique shop recommendations, look for a metal dealer. Sometimes they have a small (but usually better than you'd expect) selection of jewelry and you can get them for closer to melt value than you would an actual jewelry specialist.
Shoutout to the precious metals thread.
