There's not much difference between the two concepts. Actually most experts working in the psychopathology field don't differentiate one from the other. Sociopathy is psychopop lingo.

Psychopathy is dissociative personality disorder in the official handbook over disorders at least. If my memory is correct, their amygdala is smaller than average too. So yes, it is something you are born with and cannot be cured. They can know what's right, wrong and empathy, but only in theory. As they cannot feel this themselves.

Psychopaths are able to plan ahead, meanwhile sociopaths. Not so much.

They aren't actual medical diagnoses, and just exist as abstractions in modern lingo. ASPD is a good analogue for for what we call psychopathy/sociopathy, but it's
as rare as a horse sized wolf.

Nobody really knows what psychopathy and socieopathy even mean, and those that attribute a difference to socieopathy/psychopathy don't care to exercise it
since nobody cares. I once saw Matpat expain the difference in one of his videos, and that made me stop caring about the darned thing.

Who fucking cares, if you mean from a clinical perspective. Socially deviant behaviour of any type and its diagnostics is basically a guessing game for modern day psychology, they keep changing definition and jumbling up different patterns every 10 years.


But from a colloquial sense a psychopath is a violent fucking bastard with no self control or empathy while a sociopath is a conniving snake type archetype that plays with peoples emotional states and sense of self either for personal entertainment or for advancement.


The later is really fun to fuck with short- term if you know you can get way from them later (as they never forgive/forget - which partly is what makes them fun to troll in the first place), the first one you either kill or disable or stay the fuck away from.
