What's the most autistic game addiction you ever had? - Peope who think all games are autistic need not apply

Farming Simulator. It's fun in its own right but was also a good "brain off" game that could be played while hammered.
Fucking love me some FS22, although I'm more into the empire building and directing AI to do all the dirty work while I play with tonka toys and try to stack bales. Kinda more of a Truck Simulator approach, another game I've sunk way too much time into but at the same time, not enough.
You ever hear grown men get into a screaming match because one tried to mow the ditch grass out of the other's field?
Yeah, actual farmers are 100% that petty ("Old Arthur Webley's been clipping hedgerows that don't belong to him"). In this regard the game is highly realistic.
 
When I was really small I was super into those Musou games. My brother got a PS2 for Christmas one year and Dynasty Warriors 5 was one of the first games we had. The one I think I dumped the most time into was Samurai Warriors 2. I don't know why, but for about three months, I played that game from the moment I got home until dinner and sometimes would wake up early and play before school.
Those games are crap but every now and then I wonder where the series is currently.
 
Autistic? Probably Cookie Clicker. I like when number go up.

But my most shameful is probably the ubiquitous answer of WoW. I haven’t played for years, but between 2006 and (I think?)2018 I spent an enormous amount of time on that game. To the point where I had nearly a year /played time just on my main, and had a character of every class at max level.
 
I remember people talking a lot about this, like the game to end all games and then it was released and it was like it disappeared. Made me think it probably sucked balls. Apparently the source was leaked?
As someone who played it it's entire life-span, it just kind of fizzled out, as most games do.

Though, furfags did speed that process up by attaching a fictional race to it. The race itself wasn't that bad, I'll provide an image below, they're kinda cute actually, effectively tiny, fluffy, feathered, legitimately autistic space raptors. The problem was, you guessed it, the fur fags it drew in, and the creators own autism.


The creator had an entire society dedicated to these little shits, but not in any constructive way. A low autism way to say it is he tried to write the Silmarillion, but forgot the only reason anyone gave a shit about a dictionary of a fiction world was because people already cared about that world through the books.

This is actually shockingly common in the furfag sphere. Including the Avali, I can think of three 'popular' races that are made up wholecloth, but accepted amongst the furries more than actual animals sometimes. All of them with richly detailed backgrounds and lore, but absolutely no actual heart behind any of them. Because all of the writing was clearly meant to make them just fetish bait. In the Avali's defense, I don't THINK these guys (or their culture) was made for the creators dick, but it still wasn't all that well thought out. But I digress.

Furries saw these adorable little fuckers, instantly tried to make them horny, and proceeded to ignore every puzzle piece in the mod makers box, because they wanted their Avali to have big tits, and/or be a playboy running around the galaxy fucking everything he saw. The dev saw this, lost his speghetti, and essentially started a tism war with the furries, culminating in, IIRC, him stopping working on the mod, taking his ball, and going home, leaving the Avali half developed as the game continued getting updates.

This spilled over into the official forums, which were already a hotbed of retardation (don't look up how Floran breed. Spare yourself.) resulting in the rest of the fan-base wanting to leave just to avoid the stigma of being associated with players like that. Mix that with an abysmal launch, general burn-out, other mod tism fits, and already being pretty niche? Starbound was fucked.

I recently-ish went on vacation and played Orb of Creation on an intercontinental flight. Was a great way to pass the time, but when I arrived at my destination I kept going, then kept going, then... I think I spent a good portion of my vacation playing the game, until I hit the point where the game wasn't finished yet. I was excited to find out more about what the dev was planning, then found out they were going to be redesigning some of the mechanics and I immediately lost interest.

Probably put in 30 hours int he course of 5 or 6 days between the flight and the time I spent hanging out in my hotel. I don't regret it really, but when the spell broke it seemed pretty obvious to me that I had been feeling down and needed an escape, and Orb offered a way for me to obsessively latch on to something.

Would recommend. There's not really a goal to the game as far as I know, but the act of juggling multiple resources and resource flows really was addictive. It's a game for spreadsheet people, which I guess I kind of am. Part of me still thinks it would be neat to come back to it when it hits 1.0.
 
This has less to do with addiction and more to do with severe depression I had a year ago, but there was a while when I was playing Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey (the gorilla game) all night long and even into the early daylight.

Basically, I run through Luigi's Mansion in a single afternoon every year, no speedrun strats. Legit gameplay. No saving, no breaks. It reminds me of playing it on my gamecube when I was too poor to afford a memory card, so had to leave the console on. Also meant I didn't get to finish RE4 or ReMake until I worked a summer job to buy one, since they had two discs.
Also play Silent Hill 1-4 on my PS2 back to back starting the week before Halloween.
 
Through-out my school years, it was Runescape. At some point, I decided I would power level Agility to 99, and it came to a point where I would stay up all night just clicking on obstacles, doing lap after lap after lap. Fun fact: Did you know that after six hours of continuous play, the game automatically logs you off? I learned that on my little autistic journey.

I never really reached my goal, though I came pretty close, getting up to 95. Every now and then I think about going back to Runescape and completing what I never accomplished, but Runescape has become such an alien game in my absence that I find it hard to justify going back to it. Plus, spending money just to get a number higher just sounds stupid at this point.

About a year of my youth was wasted playing Diablo 2. I don't even enjoy that vein of action RPGs anymore, but there's no denying I played it religiously.
Man D2 really is one of the best games of all time period. Still one of the few games I like to periodically fire up and go do some LK runs or something. Never even played multiplayer and it's still so satisfying to play.
 
Quite alot to put it simply:

Games that I used to be addicted to:

- PS2 had GTA: San Andreas and Smackdown vs Raw 2006. The first was one of my first intros to Open World stuff and cheats. Back then I'd memorize certain cheatcodes like spawning tanks and Hydras for maximum chaos. SvR 2006 had a lot of customization for your own wrestler and had a large variety of matches you could play, plus CPU fights and you could fight with or against your own buddies. Maybe about 100 hours on each as I was a kid back then.

- PC had TF2, WoT and Wolf:ET. TF2 sucked me in because of the gameplay loop and some of the classes I enjoy playing (engineer is my favorite). WoT had tanks of course and it made me love the concept of tanks in general (as well as sucking me into the Girls und Panzer rabbit hole). Wolf:ET had the best teamwork and coordinated gameplay (if you were in a clan, which I was) to the point the most coordinated clans in EU were to simply spam medics with few Engineers/Soldiers/Field Ops. Eventually my interest with the 3 games died at some point, maybe I clocked at 250-500 hours each.

Games I am addicted to:

Darkest Dungeon, Gmod and L4D2. I got addicted to mods, so much so most of my hours were spent tweaking which ones worked, were good to play with and which sucked ass. DD and L4D2 has 750 hours and Gmod has 1,600 hours, both counting.
 
Maxing out in ff7 and ff8.

Repeatedly beating world tour mode on street fighter alpha 3. Also maximizing the score in each round. Had to get a million points each round.

Gran tourismo 3 and 4.

Grand theft auto 4 and 5.

There's more I'm forgetting.

Never really got into the game but I remember buying a 4 pack for friends back when steam did fun things like that. Played maybe twice before deciding it wasn't that fun.
This song is a banger though.

Hunt Showdown. I have several thousand hours in it and it also ignited a love for old firearms, of which I'm legally only allowed to own three (Britfag). I'm going to America next year almost entirely driven by my desire to fire guns inspired by the time devoted to the game. So yeah, I'd consider that autistic.

Or Charleston/Lowcountry for something that's basically the same but without Fr*nch people

I got sick of the monsters aspect of the game and I don't even like the extraction shooter angle on it much (it makes the experience a complete crapshoot), but what draws me is that, aside from just preferring that period, slower paced firearms makes shooting feel much more significant and, by extension, makes shootouts feel way more tactical, story-like, intense. And Hunt also naturally funneled players towards high stakes siege situations. Basically, it's 90% tedium and occasionally it coughs up an amazing shootout that you spend the next several hours thinking about.
 
Levelling up all my characters in Suikoden so they're invincible in the strategy battles.

That or windows Hearts. Not much of a Solitaire guy.
