What's the proper way to serve pumpkin pie?

Cold like cheesecake or warm like, well, a pie? I've always seen and eaten them chilled but someone IRL told me they usually see and eat them warmed.

You serve it chilled, like wine. You want it cold enough that it has a nice firm texture, but warm enough that the flavors come out. You gotta have whipped cream on hand as well. Naked pumpkin pie is just an embarrassment.

It doesn't answer the question but
You make it pecan pie instead.
is the objectively correct answer.

Cold is best for the pie but a nice warm caramel sauce drizzle will make it good. Pumpkin Pie is the vanilla of pies. It needs something else to elevate it, like a flavor hype man. Caramel is my go to flavor hype man.
That said, Rhubarb will always be the best pie hype man on the planet. Rhubarb hype is baked in.

Cold with a side of vanilla or cinnamon ice cream, of course.

As an aside, make your own pumpkin pie. Substitute the sugar for half of its volume in honey and double the cinnamon.
