What's the rarest game you own?

I would say my rarest would probably be Metal Warriors on the SNES but I have a pretty big SNES collection so not sure what all else is rare from that era. I didn't go super crazy and try and get Aero Fighters on the SNES. Did get a few duds without realizing it, like trying to buy the Capcom King Arthur beat'em up and got some other King Arthur game.
Honestly if most of my SNES cart library hadn't gotten stolen decades ago I'd probably have some rare carts in there - the SNES Doom is by itself an interesting curiosity. Phantom 2040 was interesting and might be rare simply because nobody seemed to realize it existed.

Probably .hack//Infection/ Mutation/ Outbreak, now that I think about it.
I saw Quarantine in a bargain bin at the store I used to frequent when I was a kid, but I didn't buy it because I was a retard.

If any of the PS2 Armored Core titles count then I have pretty much the entire library from 2 up to Last Raven as well.

All 7 PS2 .hack games
Shadow Hearts 1-4
Robot Alchemic Drive
Suikoden 1-5 (and tactics)
Koudelka
Gravity Rush Remastered
Multiple versions of Ys Origin
Echo Night Beyond
Shadow Tower
King's Field 4
Tales of Vesperia Special Edition for Xbox 360
Dragon Quest 1-3 on the NES
Dragon Quest 1-3 on the GBC
Dragon Quest 4,5, and 6 on the DS
Dragon Quest 7 and 8 on the 3DS
Final Fantasy 12 PS2 Special Edition
Cubivore
Xenoblade for the Wii
Persona
Persona 2 for the PSX
Persona 2 for the PSP
Persona 3 Portable
Turtles in Time for the SNES
Spike McFang for the SNES
Knuckles Chaotix 32x
Kolibri for the 32x
Discworld 1 and 2 on the PSX
Dokapon Kingdom for the wii
Fragile Dreams for the wii
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance for the gamecube
Fire emblem for the wii
Harvest moon 64

that's all I can think of there's probably more.

action 52
Good answer :sonichu:
I've got the NES and Genesis "Action 52s", and Cheetahmen 2.

Let's see, what else is worth mentioning?
"Recca" for Famicom (minus the box and manual because I didn't feel like forking over an extra $1000 for the privilege)
A complete set of "Sutte Hakkun" Satellaview carts
An SNES "Burn-In Test" cartridge
A 64DD setup with most of the games (minus a couple of the rarest)

From the "not that rare, just overpriced" department:
Metalstorm (NES)
Sword Master (NES)
Guardic Gaiden (Famicom)
Crusader of Centy (Genesis)
Earthbound (SNES)
EVO: Search for Eden (SNES)
Fire Emblem PoR/RD (GC/Wii)

From the "not rare in the slightest, but cosmically overpriced" department:
Mega Man 1 through 6 (NES)

the zelda gamecube compilation containing the 2 nes and n64 games made just before the release of wind waker...maybe. Also i dont have the original box if it came in one.

Tracking rare games isn't something I normally do, but a quick google of lists gave me these:
Klonoa Door to Phantomile (PS1)
Herc's Adventure (PS1)
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2)

I'd argue that the Banjo Kazooie games are the Rarest games ever made. Although I can see an argument for perfect dark.

i remember years ago i bought a dibalo two CD pack with the expansion and has collected dust for years. now, im finally opened it up and playing some diablo 2 again.

I sold almost all my physical games around 4 years ago. Based on that alone the rarest game I own is probably Alundra followed by Brave Fencer Musashi.

Phantom 2040 was interesting and might be rare simply because nobody seemed to realize it existed.

Just want to say I love Phantom 2040 and know it exists and always try to tell people about it.

PS2 emulation sucks a fat dick, so the easiest and best way to play a PS2 game is to own an actual copy, which is a shame because so many of them are so absurdly expensive now.

I hate to think of some PS2 games being essentially lost to time like a lot of silent films were, hopefully people continue to work on PS2 emulation, because in my experience at least it sucks.
Oh yeah, no doubt. I have a few PS2 games that work but my collection stops about there cause like you said, it's pretty bad. Mine basically goes from Atari up to some PSX games but everything is complete before PSX. I need to expand my storage before I attempt to gather all the PlayStation ones.

I actually can't think of any other SNES game off the top of my head quite like it - an SNES platformer game vaguely reminiscent of Super Metroid and such with "choices and consequences" a la CRPGs, and you could actually hit a Game Over failstate if you were not paying attention to how the story was playing out.

Just realized Phantom 2040 was better than Cyberpunk 2077 when it came to choices and consequences lol

Don't know how rare it actually is but probably Crimson Skies for the PC, an arcade plane shooter set in the alternate 1920s where zeppelins still rule the skies.
Shit was great but getting it to run on modern hardware is a pain.

No Idea. Probably some rare nes game I own but just don't know it, But I guess Manhunt for the ps2.

I have the Jap cart of the SNES Alien VS Predator game. Shit game but the Jap version has an exclusive 2 player versus mode. Worth about $50 I last checked no idea if the cart still works tho.

Probably not an interesting answer but I have a copy of surf's up the game on the ps2 which I can't imagine sold particularly well
