What's the worst deal you've gotten for trading in a game or console?

I can’t keep reading this thread. It is physically hurting to hear about these classic games getting sold fir basically nothing.

I once sold a copy of Digimon World 2. It’s worth 200 dollars now and I never got to finish playing the sucker.

The worst deal I was offered was 20 dollars for Assassins Creed 4 a week after it came out. It wasn't even Gamestop, it was a Disk Replay.

They told me that it was policy that they can't give more than 20 dollars on games that are less than a year old. I asked them if they'd kiss me before they fucked me and they banned me for a year lol

I just looked it up on ebay and most CIB copies that are in good shape go for around $130.

Yeah, like I said it’s crazy expensive. Reason being is because not only did it have a limited production but there are variant copies in the mix that were leaked before it was finished that has different audio. I had a copy with spanish audio over English text.

Well yeah, after storing it for 20 years. That's why Gamestop offers such shit prices. Every game on their shelves or storage takes up space they pay rent for. It's why Amazon destroys unsold items that are brand new as a part of their daily routine.
When you're the 1000th person to trade in an Uncharted or Ass Creed they're likely going to take a loss even on that $0.02 they offer you because they won't be able to sell it.

Traded my used copy of FF6 into a pre-release order for Resident Evil 1 with free shipping. FF6 held value even back then. THQ Noric, you were good the good guys.

The funniest would have been my friend bought a shit of blind boxes when video store went under. He dragged that crapped to Gamstop/Gameshop and they were told that can't buy unopponed movies, only used ones. So he went out into an alley and tore the covers of all that shit and returned with clean, non-criminal goods.

Stupid me thought the price of used games at Gamestop WAS the trade-in value. Let's just saying trading in a bunch of PS2 games would get you a couple dollars AT MOST.

I've only traded in games/consoles once. One of my exs had a fuck-ton of old games/systems she wasn't using anymore (and I had no need for them since I 1. Already own them and 2. Use emulation for everything else), so she had me help her carry all of them which filled up 2 bags to the retro game store that at the time was near the place I used to live. She opted for store credit (even though she wasn't going to use it and would just give it to me to use) because at most, between like 1 console, 1 handheld, and a crapton of games, it came to I think less or a little more than $50.

By the way, this is the same retro store that sells Banjo-Kazooie/Tootie for between $75-$100.

The last time I ever traded in anything was a long time ago, and I brought in a small stack of Xbox 360 games I figured I'd never touch again. I only ended up selling like two of them, because the rest would get me like two bucks or less. One of the games was You're in the Movies, a game I only owned because it was bundled with a 360 vision camera, and therefore was a very cheap webcam. They offered me a dime for it. Just a dime.

I kept it because I'd gladly pay a dime for the replacement green DVD case alone.

I actually bought Banjo-Kazooie from some kid at school for only $5 way back in '05 or '06, and I'm sure the cart was worth at least $40-$50 at the time :story:

I’ll jump on the “I traded in a bunch of games to Gamestop as a kid” train and say that I got a quarter for each Madden game, and less than a dollar for several other games. I only knew the final amount I’d be getting (which was inflated by the fact that a couple of my games were apparently rare, like Super Princess Peach), so I would have kept those if I’d known I wouldn’t get anything.
